I just received a can of it from a forum member on another place who knew i was wantign to try it, whatta guy!

I put it against Souveran and was quite impressed! I won't go into any review or details on the two here, but what I am looking for is your opinions of Megs #16.

I happen to like #26 as well, but onyl for its durability and glow it takes on after a day. What should I expect from #16?

If you didn't already know, #16 has been discontinued, so CHERISH IT :2thumbs:

I LOVE this stuff- it beads like no one's business in the rain, but sheets water off when washing, as if it hardly got wet. It lasts longer then #26, doesn't darken the look of the paint like #26 and is terrific to work with.

I use it strictly on my own car, and sparingly at that :sadpace:

IMO #16 is not so special to go out of your way to get. I like #26 quite a bit and am also very happy with Collinite 845.

Thanks, those were two big points I was looking for, longer lasting than #26 and doesn't darken! Looks liek I got a winner!

Yeah, I knew, he sent me almost a full can of it, so that will last and I wills tumble across another sometime I imagine. Thanks

I have a full can of #16 I haven't even cracked open yet....

I plan on using it on my car in a few weeks when I do the detail.

Until then, im going to order another tin of it.

I wonder how long one tin of #16 lasts?

If you put it on thin it oughta last for many years. The can I'm finishing up has had only a tiny amount of wax left in it (in the outer edge of the bottom of the tin) for the last few applications I've done on my wife's A8 (not a small car) but it takes so little to do a car that the tiny amount has been plenty.

IMO people usually apply a zillion times more than is necessary and then buff 99.9% of it off. I use so little you really can't tell I use *any* by looking at the amount of wax in the tin. Didn't discern any benefit when I used more, it was just harder to buff off.

After you prime your applicator with wax (move it quickly across the surface of the wax, the wax will turn liquid), scrape as much wax as you can back *off* the applicator. It'll still be enough to do a much larger area than you'd think. You should barely be able to see the wax on the paint if you apply it thinly enough. Let it dry completely, you'll get better durability compared to W-O-W-Oing it. It'll still buff off easily if the application was thin enough.

I have 3 full tins and my sons have about 2 full tins total between 3 partially used ones. I really like #16. Easy on, easy off, really nice glow and great durability. On a properly prepped surface, you should have no problems getting 4+ months durability unless you are regularly subject to acid rain and heavy industrial fallout-which take their toll on any wax or sealant.

I applied a single layer to a customer's Ford Expidition I wash conventionally on April 5th and tpday, July 26th, when I washed it, the beads were still round and tight and raced down the side of the car when I hit it with the sprayer. Not bad at the 3.5 month point!

All good info.

Heck, what did/does a new can go for anyway?

Onething that was hit on, but I'd like more info...Does it take on that glow that #26 does?

I paid $12.50 at my local Paint shop that is a megs dist. I bought his last can and let him know that it was no longer avail. He made a quick call and realized I was right. :getdown

Thnaks.

See that is a greta price for this wax I think! I am gonan do a heads up against NB since that seems to be everyone's favoritye (I do like it too), but from my best recollections, #16 seems pretty darn close to NB is looks, but durability would be the winning hand between them, then again NB is my favorite smelling product of all time, and I have tried tons of stuff, most CG stuff smells like a dream, but NB just does it for me in smell! I used to always have people smell the hood of my car, they would act like I was crazy or something, go figure...sure they smelled worse things in their life!

I like it, but I don't think there's anything special about it. It's another good product in a world full of good products. It's not better than any one of a half a dozen other waxes I could name... Natty's, Mother's Cal Gold Natural, #26, Collinite, P21S... nor better than #20, #21, NXT, Zaino, TW Platinum, or anything else. It's not better than another discontinued Meguiar's product, Medallion Premium Paint Protection.

Of course, that's all my opinion.

My local CarQuest has two tins of this left if anybody just HAS to have some....

How much are they asking for it ? I want to stock up on a new tin even though I have an almost new tin. :2thumbs:

I've found I can get a thinner coat from a MF applicator. I lightly wipe the applicator into the can, start at one spot, then work the wax on the panel from the one spot. THIN is the key with #16 from what I've found. It WILL come off easy, but like KSG, you have to apply it thinly (okay, not quite as thin as KSG, but thin). I have yet to try it, but a PC should lay down a thin coat, just wipe the applicator into the tin, then wipe onto the PC pad.

Good luck Scooter!
