Cherry Vanilla Chrysler 300...Zaino'd

New Normal
Since my wife purchased a 2005 Chrylser 300 Touring Edition, I had a chance to do a complete detail using all the knowledge that I am gained through the use of the detail forum. I started on Sunday morning but completed the entire detail on Tuesday.. A lot of time and energy invested. I am pleased to say that all the hard work produced a good detail.

I got started by taking the time to evaluate the condition of the paint on this new vehicle. I used some blue painters tape to mark the areas that were the roughest. I soon realized that every panel on this new vehicle had rough spots. The hood, roof and trunk were the worst. All in all it felt like their were small grains of sand embedded into the paint. While I was felling the paint with a sandwich bag I noticed little if any swirls or marring in the paint. Although I am an untrained eye when it comes to swirls on this vanilla paint. I used a twin halogen lamp setup with 500 watts each to do my search for the swirls as it sat in my garage.

So here were my steps:

1. Wash with Z-7 using wool wash pad.

2. Blackfire clay and Megâ€â„¢s Final Detail for the lube.

3. Wash again with Z-7 wool wash mitt. Dried using MF WW towel.

4. Applied Klasse AIO with PC 7424 with LC white pad. Buffed with Adam's MF towel.

After completing this I spent the rest of the day cleaning out the garage to make space for the vehicle. I thought that I would go back into the garage later in the evening but was to tired to go back. I was happy to have taken the time to make the space for the vehicle. This made it easier for me to not go back and do the work when I was tired. I felt that it was important to do the job correctly rather than trying to do a fast job which could lead to errors.

Tuesday the detail continued:

5. Sprayed the vehicle with Z-6 and wiped down with an Adamâ€â„¢s MF towel.

6. Applied Zaino Z-2 pro with ZFX. Waited an hour then buffed off with an Adamâ€â„¢s MF towel

7. Applied second layer of Zaino Z-2 Pro after spritzing some Z-6 over each panel then wiping down with an Adamâ€â„¢s detail spray. Buffed off the second layer of Zaino Z-2 Pro with an Adamâ€â„¢s MF towel.

8. Wednesday morning I went over the entire vehicle with Z-6 wiping with another Adamâ€â„¢s MF towel.

I have fallen in love with the vanilla color that is on the car. Since I have already have posted pictures of the before on another thread there will not be any. To be honest I cannot see a difference in the look of the vehicle using the pictures as a side by side comparison. Yet when you see it in person even the most inexperience eye can see that the color really is more vivid. I hope the pictures show the reflectivity.

I tried very hard to find swirls on the finish before, during and after the detail. I found some small marks that were most likely made during the final wipe down with Z-6.

As my wife indulged me during this detail she did say one thing that seemed to make it all worth it for me. She had come home after an small shopping session and mentioned, âہ“Kirk, I am not sure what the problem was but every where I went today I felt like I was being watched.â€Â In my mind it was the freshly detailed car.
