chemical guys

can anyone comment on the chemical guys Citrus Wash & Gloss Synthetic Citrus Based Hyper-Wash+GLOSS.... If used 'extra stength", I've been told it will remove old wax... does that apply to removing sealant as well? I'm thinking to use this instead of a dawn type wash before a complete detail on my daily driver to remove the old sealant before a clay and seal... or would claying remove sealant as well?
 
CG Citrus wash will strip off waxes and sealants if used according to label on container. Claying IMO takes off a majority of your LSP but leaves a little behind.

I just (today) received my first order from CG. I've yet to open the box, but the Citrus wash should be in there! I'm looking forward to trying it. From what I've heard/read it is good to use to strip everything. I assume it would be better than using Dawn.

I've been using the CG citrus wash and gloss for just over a year washing my daily driver each weekend... i like it a lot on the tires and rims as it really eats away at the brake dust that builds up... I've always been very careful not to use too much as I've heard the stories of people stripping off most of their wax which makes the car look like it has water spots... used as directed, I've enjoyed the shine, but then again I'm still learning what all of you are capable of doing - so it's time to take it up a notch....
 
I've really been interested in CG as well, but I've got to use up the seemingly endless amount of other products I still have from years past...

We'd love to hear the feedback on the wash etc... thanks :)
 
I use CWG only before details as it does remove LSP's when used per label instructions. I use Maxi Suds II for regular washes - its super slick, sudsy, and a gallon is only 11.95.

JetSeal has become my sealant of choice due to ease of application and removal, and the fact that it adds more depth and flake pop than any other sealant ive used. I no longer use a carnauba topper, but am tempted to try 50/50.

Blitz is also my favorite synthetic booster spray. Just like Jetseal, it goes on super easy and comes off just as easy, and keeps the shine and depth that normally disappears over time. I always finish my washes with a Blitz spraydown and so far my paint has stayed looking like i just gave it a full detail.

Their VRP dressing is ok. It has replaced PB BNB in my lineup only because they gave me a free bottle, and im out of BNB.

Their green clay is the same as Sonus green clay, but way cheaper.

Products that are unanimously loved that I have yet to try: water spot remover, grime reaper, fade2black, bare bones, speed wipe (although i think FK425 is better), and ONE.

Their cleaner/degreasers are super concentrated and work very well.

CG stuff is awesome because you get a ton of product for such a good price.
 
I just got an order form them. The Citrus Wash, The Clay Block, The Clay Lube, and the Bare Bones. The wash product seems really good. The clay block, I'm very unsure of but wanted to give it a try.

The only thing that disappointed me was that I got the Clay Lube and the Bare Bones and both arrived sans spray tops. PB always seems to include nice quality spray tops. Good thing I had some extra ones.

Haa! Yes, I haven't been around any of the forum(s) much lately, I hate to say.

Guess where I've been? My cubicle... man, doesn't it suck to hear myself say that. I'm working at GE, been here for about 6 months, and I work 'after work' with my wife's small cleaning business.

Basically, I think the truth it I just can't find it 'in my heart' to do the day-long 10 hour detail sessions on my car since it was so poorly cared for and 'repaired' a little over a month ago.

so you went from having no real money and spending 300 to going to chemical guys and spending 700? you may be overwhelming yourself with new products.. when you start out i would suggest you take it slow..

FWIW you may want to shop around and see if you can come up with anything cheaper to start out with.. but thats just my 2 cents

Also if you are new to this whole shabangabang how did you end up with a gold membership discount?
 
Yeah, I need it for Start Up. THe prices are running about half of that at AutoGeek. I am getting a loan for start up of $7500. I figure the products should last a couple months and enable me to get a lot of practice in on friends, neighbors, and discount details.

No prior expereince... Correct. I am not just going to start charging people though. I am going to try to detail at least 3-4 cars a week for a month, while following checklists, advice, and how to guides. Unless you have a better suggestion. I lost my job, I am a full time student, and a disabled Military Vet. I can't find anyone that wants to work around my hours.
 
well i wish you luck.. but you still cant work for free.. so maybe charge them something to atleast make the money back on what you purchased? even if its 20-30 bucks a car you will make your initial investment in product back and be able to reorder when you need.. im sure you will find alot of info to help here.. just dont burn yourself out all at one time..

Thanks for your advice. I'm sure I'll charge something. I have a lot of friends that are in business and will be willing to work with me. I know that this will be the best shot at making my own schedule, not having to conform to certain business hours, and providing me enough down time to study and generate new business. What forums would you recommend?
 
Good luck. If you are buying that much, you can contact sellers (like AG and others) to see if they will give you a special deal.

The only observation I have is you bought a lot of stuff you have never used.
