Chemical guys concours 5050 wax

you even try the Blitz over 5050?

I have yet to use my bottle of blitz to boost the 5050. Perhaps next week. As for this week, my new bottle of DG AW will be here on Wednesday. I think I'm gonna try the AW after another ONR wash.

Now that you mentioned the CG Blitz.........I am curious about it. I'm in love with FK FX-100 & I'm eager to see the differences between the 2. Maybe I'll do a little test on my girlfriends Cherokee. HMMMMMMMMM..........

Just to chime back in.........My bottle of AW showed up a day early from AG. Since I was off today, I had the chance to give the AW it's "maiden voyage" so to speak. Todays wash was a 50/50 mixture of QEW & ONR. ( 1 capfull of QEW & 1 capfull of ONR mixted into 2 gallons of water. ) Aamazing results. After drying my car, there was no need to do a post wash QD at all. the finish was in stellar condition. Deep, rich, wet & glossy. I went straight for my Monster Fluffy & my new bottle of AW. The AW performed very well over the CG 5050. Terrific clarity, depth & wetness was clearly still visable. The AW even kicked the gloss up slightly.

On thing to mention about the CG 5050 is the fact that the 2 layers of 5050 hasn't muted the flake on my paint at all! In fact, the flake continues to "pop" nicely. I'm still very impressed with 5050, even before todays AW treatment. Man, my car looks amazing! (lol)

BLKtaco my guess is your application of AW most likely dissolved and removed most of the previously applied 5050...and you're looking at the glossy finish AW provides on its own.

Thanks for your input, but I disagree with the "disolving" aspect. In any event, my car looks stunning!

blktaco, not to blow the lid so to speak off of a lot of 'truths' autopians believe in, but the more I research the more I'm starting to believe this layering concept is garbage. After lengthy conversations on the phone with Chemical Guys the other day, they explained several of the chemicals and fillers that are used in the products to keep them in a liquid or spreadable form, etc. He explained to me that when you put a second layer down, much of the first layer that you put down is dissolved/absorbed back into the liquid form, as the chemicals are just right to do so, regardless of cure time according to him. It makes sense, think about the zaino freaks that put 20 layers on..if that actually worked (nice marketing concept by zaino though), you'd be able to scratch some of it off with your fingernail, it'd be super thick. Basically it sounds like a second 'coat' of product will serve to fill in the gaps/more completely cover/bond to the area you're doing, however it will never layer like sheets of paper will, which is what most people seem to think. He said this was true even if the product (like many of theirs) have no solvents or cleaners.

Anyway glad you like the AW...I just got my first bottle as well and am anxious to try it out on something...haven't had a chance yet.

Fill a shot glass with AW, drop some 5050 in it, let it sit and see what happens.

Lightman, the crosslinked portion of the applied layer won't re-liquify again. And because most carnauba are blended waxes, they use also curing polymers too. That's why the layering concept is not garbage.

True, that certain percent of the previously applied coats will be lost but not all.

heres my clio witch 50/50 i love

Can someone tell me what the tin looks like? I ordered some from a distributor for pretty cheap because he was getting rid of it. I got a silver tin that had black sides. Is this what it looks like? No lettering on the tin besides the sticker? Doesn't smell like anything either, a little like #16. Mine isn't signed or anything, since its not really "limited edition" like CG claims.

I know who u bought it from i wanted a tin :D

That is one of the original tins so they are not limited, imo the limited was just a marketing thing to promote sales

IMO u have a real tin

A nice little surprise last week. I have a layer of 5050 and it rained last week in SD. Came home, put the car in the garage and told myself I would wash it tomorrow to get rid of all the water spots caused by the beading. Nice looking beading by the way. Came out in the morning to go to work and my car looked spotless. It seemed as though all the water beads evaporated in my garage.

Well last week i just removed my winter coat of 50/50 and put on 1 coat of JWP and 2 coats of jwaj.

It looks very much like 2xfmj and 2x 5050. The new combo feels completely different though.
