SORRY NO PICS! I don't have a digicam. And, no 1948 Lincoln. That is off being restored. Bummer, I wanted to see it.
I'm back and had a fantastic time. 14 acres of private beach front property was a sight to behold! I spent most of my time relaxing, hiking around and enjoying excellent meals.
Well, the other cars had been sitting for 4 years in a dry garage. Outside of dead batterries (which I changed), flat tires (which I pumped up) and expired inspections, the condition of them were excellent except for some mouse chewed weather stripping (which I ordered replacements for him). We started them up and took them to the local gas station for some fresh gas and an oil change. We drove them back home to NJ and dropped off at a local mechanic for a major overhaul service from bumper to bumper. Each had been serviced a couple hundred miles ago, 4 years ago. So, the fluids and filters were new as far as driving on them, but hadn't been used in that time period. Each fired up on the second time after a little priming of the gas.
I used DACP (orange pad), AIO (polish pad) and Collinite Insulator Wax on the Buick and Honda. There was a lot of chrome on the 87' buick station wagon that I used Eagle One metal polish on. All rubber trim received #40 and all plastic parts received a coat of AIO follwed by #40 (except headlights). Results were very Autopian!
The interiors were absolutely filthy. I wiped everything down with warm water. Then I used #39 and topped with #40. I vacuumed well and cleaned all carpeting with 303 upholstery cleaner. I used Turtle Wax glass cleaner and also wiped a lot of the clear plastic parts of the dash with QD and a MF. I wish I had before and after pics of the interior. What a transformation!
The lawn car equipment was in immaculate shape, barely been used! In fact, no degreasing was needed. When I said why he never used them, he joked that he only makes the money to buy them! He had huge riding mowers, leaf blower, and a few other large pieces including a trailer in which he hooks up to an ATV to haul stuff around.
I used Gold Class wash, AIO on the housing and #40 on all rubber and plastic on all the equipment. It was cake to work on! They were all just dusty with flat tires that I filled up
I also did a lot of handy man work like installing light fixtures, helping to move fire wood and helping clean up his tool shed and garage.
It was a very nice time, easy work and a wad of cash!
He was extremely, extremely happy (as usual) and now has two 1980 motorcycles he wants done (I bought s100 cycle products for them). Also, he bought my detailing services for 2 people as presents. He also gave out my literature at his Mercedes Club meeting and sang the praises of my work. Cha ching! More work for me!!
