Cheapest/best QD to buy in bulk??

So... anyone? I don't have running water during the winter, so I QD ghetto wash to get my car free of dirt and debris before starting my detail process...

Any opinions on this? I use a few cotton towels, thoroughly soak the car in QD, and remove the dirt and salt that way.. Then I begin my normal process, varying on the chemicals I'm using that way...

It seems to work well, but I go through a bottle of QD per wash, which is costing me like $5 per wash... That gets expensive in the winter...

So, what would you guys recommend in this position? Any good deals out there??

Definitely get QEW. I think Camping World was the cheapest place on the internet, according to many here.

Nice!

Can I use this like a QD? Mix it appropriatly, put it in a spray bottle, spray on and wipe off?

If not, what is the proper procedure? I've never used such a product before!

Camping world has it for $12.50 for a 32oz, and at 1/2 per half gallon of water, should last forever!

Don't forget there is also Meg's Final Detail! $16 per gallon. This is a shine enhancing spray though so if you are using a QD as a cleaner then you should probably use the QEW first. I don't think I would try to clean off salt and debris with a QD, winter yuck is very abrasive and wiping it off with QD will definitely scratch your car.

Try Poorboy's Spray and Wipe or QEW. My local Wal-mart stocks QEW so you can save on shipping. Then Final Detail is incredible. S&W is $37/gallon, but it acts like a waterless wash which is so ever nice in the winter.

At least in NJ, no QEW at Walmart :( Ordered mine from dyersonline. It was the best price I found for a gallon.

QEW actually work on a dirty... not just dusty car? I find it hard to believe that all the steps people go through to keep a black car swirl free with sheepskim .. copious amounts of water .. careful rinsing and the the MF towels etc .. then in winter a wipedown with a QD or minor amounts of something like QEW and thats ok? To me winter washing should be 3 times as careful because of the road grit or are you'all in Florida and winter = 40F?

Amen! Well put!

Nope, i'm in jersey, home of the salt trucks...

My outside water gets shut off in the winter.. My options are QD/QEW wipedowns, or nothing at all..

I rely on a heavy arsenal of swirl removal products and sealants to get me through the winter, and even then, its usually not swirl free... One of the downfalls of having a black daily driver with over 100k. on her, I suppose..

I can't let her go all winter without a cleaning, so I'll frequent the power washer sprays, and when I see a stretch of nice weather, spray her down, QD the rest off, FI-II, AIO, SG, then S100 her (or whatever chemicals i'm using at the time), to protect and shine as much as possible, and get that shine back for a few random days of winter top down driving and fun!

I know it's not a perfect procedure, but it's not a perfect world.. :sosad

tell ya what though, after all's said and done, driving around with a mirror black car through fresh snow with the top down turns more heads than anything else i've ever seen! :D :D

So... What do you think is the best chemical for me to use in this situation, and where can I buy it in Bulk??

I've never seen in a Wally World. Which department was it in?

NHBFAN,

Our local Walmart's only have the ProtectAll polish on the shelves in the very small RV section. I have seen it posted here that some Walmarts have the SKU for the QEW and can/will order if asked. I have not asked for this service, so I cannot confirm that statement.

No one's really answered this question yet. I'm wondering the same thing. I mean, we all know (well those of us up North know) that when you wash a winter driven car, you can see the filthy black water running off your wash mit as you go across the car. I'm really having a hard time believing I can lather it up with this stuff and then just let all that filthy water sit on the car and just dry it. Does it really work that well? Jesstzn...maybe what we'll need to do is wash it twice with QEW? Like mix up a bucket, do the whole car, then dump it and repeat? Or hit a spraywash to get the biggest of the salt and dirt off, then come home and QEW. I'm in your situation this winter too. I have a heated garage WITH running water...but NO DRAIN! haha.

For a QD in bulk, I can't imagine anything better (or cheaper) than Meg's Final Detail for $12.61 a gallon. I just found an online supplier of it Monday. Order shipped yesterday. Actually, it looked like all of their Meg's products were 26% off of retail.

I don't have the name f the site handy right now (posting this from my phone), but I'll post it when I get home.

No, what you do with QEW is use the two bucket method. Wash with the QEW bucket, then rinse the mitt off in a clean water bucket.

I only do it this way when the car is really dirty. When it's most light dirt from dust and light road spray, I just use a single bucket. Yes, many here can attest to the fact that QEW allows you to wash scratch free, as long as you use a proper mitt and MF's. Do a search and you'll see. Quick and Easy Wash.

Flawless, QEW actually wont suds up as it doesn't have any suds at all. It seems like your just washing with a mitt and a bucket of water. I live in Texas so we don't have too much stuff on the roads to deal with but I have washed my black trailblazer with QEW almost exclussively for about a year now and don't notice any more swirls/scratches than I had before with regular car washing. I have on a couple of ocassions washed with QEW when my car was filthy with good results but usually when my car is real bad I go to the coin op and spray down first. When you first see QEW you will be very hesitant to use it because of the no suds but you really have to try it and test it for yourself to see if it works for you. As for me I can't live without it.

Everyone is skeptical about QEW the first time but I just took it on good faith from Scottwax. I figure anything that Scottwax uses has to be safe for my car.
