*Cheap* Steam Cleaner

Just thought I'd give you all an update...

I went to one of the many Wal-Mart stores tonight and I wasn't able to find the steamer. I'm going to try a couple more Wal-Marts during the rest of this week to see if I can find it locally. Otherwise, I'll probably just end up ordering it online and having it shipped to one of their retail locations.

just type your zip code in the store locator to see if they carry it anywhere around you. none near me I have go the on-line route to.

Yeah, I wasn't able to find any stores in my area with this steamer via the location search. Looks like I'll have to have it shipped to a retail store near me.

There is a video of the steammax in use on the optimum online forum by one of the regulars here on autopia. I was impressed by it.

Recently I used a less expensive steamer on floormats that were heavily saturated (the kind where you scrub and extract over and over with the LGCM with minimal results). By spraing the LGCM solution (woolite/water) and then steaming, I was able to remove most of the grime and got much better results. A steamer is my next step before finally shelling out the cash for a extractor.

I have this one too. It is good for loosening up dirt in carpets after vaccuming, blasting the grime out of cracks and crevices, vents, etc. I wouldn't detail an interior without one.

Because of the Steam This thread and SuperBee364's research I found out that Harbor Freight carries the McCulloch version of the steamer SuperBee referenced. The only difference is the McCulloch has a longer hose and a higher price tag. But I got mine for $85. So how did I do this. HF only charged me 99.99 and I had a 15% off coupon as I get the harbor freight flyers.

The wife wouldn't buy off on me getting a commercial one, but said I could get this one if I cleaned the house. So after picking this up I cleaned the bathroom and kitchen. Having never used a steamer before I was pretty impressed. I was getting about 45 minutes of steam. It was enough to tackle a big item or a few smaller items, but I couldn't do the whole room. But I just took breaks or did something else, refilled and continued.

The attachments were plastic and I found I really only liked the steam jet one. Which I broke on day two. Also the squeegee was broken in the box. I contacted the company who makes it and even though their website says they don't warranty the accessories they are mailing me replacement parts for free. I just sent them an e-mail on the weekend and they replied back within two days. Even though my initial favorite accessory broke it didn't stop me from using it and finishing the rooms.

Overall I am still fairly happy with this steamer. Peoples comments about the accessories are correct, but they are usable. And yes there is a triangle attachment. Its bigger then I expected it to be. I did try it, and I would probably use it on leather, but for doing the kitchen and bathroom I like the steam jet the best (I did put the little brushes on them).

Unfortunately if you read towards the bottom of the auction, you'll notice that it says:

"Steam buggy is 1350 watts/ 60 hz. It comes with all the attachments pictured. Water capacity around one cup.

It's also a great garment steamer. Comes with clothes/ fabric steamer attachment."

For those who don't know, 1 cup = 8 oz.

The SteamFast holds 48 oz.

LOL! Yeah, 1 cup would go a LONG way!

Great to hear my friend... I haven't made the purchase yet. I suddenly found a GB on an Infratech CM5300 in the DB forums that might take precedence over this steamer. $139.95 shipped is hard to beat!

sweet deal, those run like $200 without shipping at northern tool. I went ghetto and have a HID spotlight I got on clearance at sams club for $20. still use halogens but this thing shows way more defects. and about the steamer, kissing the wife's butt for a week does benefit my growing habit. but only in small doses, note to everyone, if I ever have a c&b about quilts or other feminine things put me out of my misery.

So I was over at Lowes with my wife so she could get some plants and I was wandering around and I came across a Wagner Steamer. Um its the steamfast just with Wagner colors and name. It was in the wall paper sections and was only $94 which is cheaper then my HF one (though I had a 15% off coupon for HF, so that ended up cheaper still)

My replacement parts have shipped and I should have them here this week.

Huh, sounds like they've gone downhill since the one my family had in the '90s. Guess I'll quit suggesting them.
