Ya, like Neothin said, if you have $5, its worth it. Thanks for the compliment, my parents like them too, they each have one. lol I gotta post pics of my dad's, last time I detailed it I didn't post pics.
 
Cool, I didn't realize you could get a foam gun at sprawl-mart. I may have to go pick one up. What makes the more expensive pieces different from one such as this?
 
For one, the expensive foamers don't dilute the soap solution as you use it continually. Also, the dilution itself is exact. The expensive foamers, well, more specifically the brass ones, are include better made components so they'll probably last a good while longer than the plastic piece. The expensive foamers also make ALOT more foam than this (which i classify as a soap sprayer).
 
I bought this soap gun at Wally-World a couple of weeks ago. I was not impressed. It leaked all around the plastic canister that screws into the soap dispenser. I took it off and screwed it back in several times thinking I might have had it too loose. Also, it even on the lowest setting diluted the soap much too quickly. I am going back to the wash bucket and standard nozzle.
 
I use that same gun but got mine from Lowes Hardware. They are decent guns but I find I can not turn off the soap on mine. It has a knob so you can add more or less soap to the water steam but even when turned all the way down a little soap still goes through mine.
 
Im thinking of getting a simple green foamer. Do you guys use regular hoses or the hosecoils? Also where do you buy the quick disconnects for the gun?

I don't care for those hose coils much because they are usually smaller than regualr 5/8" hoses, and that does not allow as much water to flow.

I wouldn't say I was "impressed" either, but it works and for $5. My canister doesn't leak, does yours have the rubber gasket? Yes the soap does get diluted fast, meaning you have to work fast. Its a good gun to get to add to the extra protection against washing swirls, without spending over $50 bucks on another gun that works a little better, but does the same thing.

I've found Sears to be the best bet for these. Also, don't forget to get a shut off valve or two ( or three ; ) ) while you're there. If they have those, try Lowe's. My local Ace finally has them as well.
 
Yeah, the brass quick-disconnects seem to be made to some industry standard. I have a number of different ones that don't quite look the same but all fit together just fine. This does not hold true for plastic ones though (e.g., the Gardena ones won't mate with ones from Gilmour).



And yeah, get some shut-off valves and ditch the pistol grip sprayer ;) Some shut-offs are easier to work with your thumb/one finger than others, so look at a few of the different styles available. The ones that also swivel are nice but they always leak and sometimes they blow apart (launching the nozzle/foamgun/whatever with considerable force, hopefully not into your car).



I don't like the coil-up hoses either. Too small inside diameter and they want to coil up when I don't want them to.
 
Ok so I have used the wal mart one twice now. It does dillute fast but I expected that. First I put it on the water only setting, and give the car a good rinse to get all the dirt off I can. Then panel by panel I put the soap/water mixture on the car. I also have my mitt in a bucket of solution as well. I wash as normal, just spray with the solution first.



One thing I love this on is wheels and wells!!!!!

Yep, thats exactly how I use it.
 
i also have one of these $5 wal-mart guns, and you get what you pay for. i've only used mine a handful of times and the soaker setting stopped working, and it just takes too much soap for my liking. i dunno... maybe i'll give it to my neighbor :lol
