Cheap degreasers

I have been using Greased Lightning for most of my degreasing needs, and actually, I made the switch from Simple Green, which was more expensive than GL. I am wondering if I can safely go even cheaper to the Castrol Super Clean or Purple Power, available at Wal-Mart for about half the price of even Greased Lightning. I wouldn't be afraid to use the cheap stuff on tires, but at this point, I would be hesitant to use them on engines and such. Are these cheaper degreaser/cleaners safe to use? Have any of you used them and had any problems?

Have you given any thought to household dish detergent? Hey if it works on greasy food... ??? Plus it's cheap... and you did say you wanted cheap. I always thought Simple Green was cheap. I just buy it in its largest size available at the local Wal-Mart.

I use gunk foamy engine bright to clean my engine.

Usually Armor all tire foam to clean my tires(careful of the overspray) and Meguires gel to get them shiny

How does that new Meguiar's Detailer Plus compare in price to all of these?? From what we've seen out of the forum members who use it, its good stuff....??

I use the Super Degreaser from Meguiars Detailer line with excellent results. I paid $13.89 for a gallon and you have to dilute it at a 4:1 ratio so in the end it costs me $2.78 per gallon of usable product. This stuff would be a bargain at 10x the price.

Chuck, the recommended ratio is 4:1. It works very well for me even at 8:1. I dont think you're supposed to use it undiluted. I use it on everything from my engine and tires to the lawnmower and bbq. I purchase it at a local bodyshop supply store. They carry the full Meguiars Detailer lineup.
