The Big Show

Been to the Auto Fair many times and never came away disappointed.Only problem with the infield and all the outer areas, you can't see it all in three days.If your looking for parts or complete cars this is a good show and swap meet.

Nice paint on the bug David, did you paint it yourself?

Nah, believe it or not, it was a very cheap paint job. There is a local shop that restores old VWs. These guys do all the work on the side - they all have full time jobs. They have a make shift paint booth set up in their garage that they paint the cars in. I didn't want to dump a ton of money in mine, so the prep work before the paint was laid down isn't as good as it could have been.

My plan is to sell this Bug, and buy another one (in similar condition to how this one started), and do a better job on it. The guys at the shop are teaching me how to prep a body for paint, and how to paint, and they will let me do the next one myself...so the price of labor won't be an issue then.

I have been learning a lot from these guys. We made a deal...one of them is an ASE certified mechanic. I wetsand and polish all the cars they restore for free, and they work on my Bug, as well as my other 3 cars for no charge (I just supply parts). It's a pretty good deal for both parties.

That's Awesome. I've only painted car parts with an HVLP spray gun powered by a 60 gallon compressor about 2-3 times and it's a lot of fun, if you like that sort of thing.
