Less chance of a CO switch or copper wiring failing. No drop-outs/dead spots. Not dependent on home electricity like the cordless phones. And it has been an extremely rare occurence in these parts.

I guess I could always drag out the CB I've still got lying around somewhere, but who has those anymore.

What are you talking about? Down in these here parts, that's a staple in trucks. They probably roll out of the dealership lots with CB's and whip antennas already installed as a dealer option!
