Still itching to play with this Celeste Dettaglio Matte I recieved over Christmas. Recently acquired a small sample of matte vinyl wrap a car club friend had laying around.
This is a reshare from my club forum but I added more content for this crowd as I am still learning about vinyl wraps.
I also used Optiseal on a small area for fun.
Applicator for celeste dettaglio matte : gold foam wax applicator
Optiseal: gold ccs jeweling hand applicator
PB spray and wipe to clean the surface

la tabula rasa.
Celeste allowed to sit 10 minutes then wiped off.
Optiseal: wowa as directed
Observations:
Applicators caused ultra fine marring on surface, or at least the appearance of such from the oils being wiped onto the surface. I'm afraid it might look bad on a larger scale such as a hood or roof. Unsure if this was user error or not.
Same issue appeared with circular and vertical/horizontal application methods.
(I wiped off in a zig zag pattern so that rules out the towel as the culprit)
A second application of celeste on the larger area and a wipe off 5 minutes later drastically eliminated these oily marks. (Sorry, my camera phone isn't good enough to pick them up.)
This issue was not seen on my rattle can black (satin) predator grill but it's not a vinyl wrap of course. Although celeste was an absolute nightmare to remove from that grill when left sitting for the recommended 20 minutes.
The piece my friend gave me wasn't in a bag or anything and it wasn't in mint condition but still looked better after the celeste and even optiseal - although I probably need to try a different applicator on each once I get another piece.
What scares me about vinyl and all the wraps my club friends are getting put on is that you cannot polish any marring out so from the time its printed, packaged and shipped...it's beginning a life of extreme risk of permanent scars.
(ouch!)
Thanks for viewing
Comments/suggestions welcomed
Going to leave this on my patio table while im at work during the day to see how it fares.
Once I get another sample I'm thinking about trying some fancy paste waxes (synergy, black ice) just for fun.
