CD-2 is good, but not a necessity

The CD-2 is a good product, but not really a necessity.
Here's a couple of engine compartment shots with no dressing of any type. Just washed with car wash and dried with a terry towel. As often said, it's 90% process, 10% product

This one is 8 years old with 60,000+ miles.

That engine looks really clean,I used CD2 a couple of times but noticed a layer of dust on all plastic parts the day after,so I think your method of cleaning without any dressing may be the way to go for me.

Looks great Charles! I did my first detail, so now maybe I can try a few other ways and play around with results. Glad to know I dont need a product to get this quality.

The secret is keeping the engine clean.
If you wipe it down with a damp towel or even hit it with your wash mitt and some wash solution once in awhile, they are much easier to keep clean than clean after they get grungy.
Once or twice a year, I will spray some S100 Total Cycle Cleaner/P21S Total Auto Wash/Hondabrite Total Cycle Cleaner, (They seem to all be about the same), diluted 1:1 with water to get into the nooks and crannies I miss over the course of the year.
Just spray it on and rinse it off.

There are other products besides CD-2 that you can use in the engine bay to dress them up. It's nice to dress them up so they look brand new and not so faded but you can definitely get away with not dressing them at all if that's how you like it. ;)

I have and use CD-2 ( trying to get rid of it) but prefer Stoner's More Shine. CD-2 always requires a wipe down no matter how lightly or carefully you spray it, Stoner's never does. CD-2 runs and Stoner's doesn't..... for me anyway.

Chas that does look very good. I prefer a bit of artificial bling but I must say both those engines look exceptional.
