CCS Pads OK for PC Newbie?

I'll soon be ordering a PC from Danase and had planned on picking up some of the 5.25" CCS pads. I recently read a post on here that implied these pads weren't good for beginners. Any thought on that? If using CCS pads isn't a good idea, what would be a good choice in pads for someone to safely learn with? If it makes a difference, I plan on Optimum for now and will also have some Menzerna later in the year.

You might try a larger ccs pad, like 6.5" so as to not worry about backing plate issuse because the 5.25" pads and a 5" bp are a close call. You could also do the edge set up, they are 6".
 
The message I read was implying the pad design was the issue not the size. As for the BP, I was thinking about trying a 4".
 
I'm in the same boat, new to PC and I just purchased the 5.25 CCS pads. I doubt it will change the learning curve much. Truth be told, I believe we in these forums (me especially) are hyper picky. In the long run, I feel its all the same crap ;)
 
I have the 5.5 low profile lc flat pads in orange and white, 4 spot buffs, 4 low profile orange, 4 ccs in all colors, and 5.25 lc ccs yellow, orange, and white and even my noob arse manages with them. ;)
 
I have the CCS 4" pad. I used them for the first time lastweek. I'm also new to the PC world, and you won't harm your paint unless you keep it in the same area for too long. Other than that, you'll get better results.



My problem I think with the PC, is moving the machine too fast for it to make the proper corrections on the paint. I need more practice since the PC is somewhat hard to control, especillay using the CCS 4" pads.



I do wish the PC was a little lighter so my shoulder won't hurt the next day. LOL
