CCS Pads for PC..come on in

Thinking of getting some for myself, as well as Dad for his Bday. Using OP and OC on our Japanese paints. I am thinking of an orange pad, a white pad, and a blue/black. Good plan of action?

Suggestions appreciated!

Thanks

For the PC..go with the Danase 5" pads....I have had nothing but good luck with them....I have some 6.5 inch CCS pads and i would rather use the 5 inch ones....seems they work and cut faster...no extreme downward pressure to make them work...I just use the machines weight and a little pressure tops and they work...I even use the 5" on the rotary...

If you go 6.5 get the AG ones..the CMA have had a problem with the glue on the backing....

I do not soak my pads..I just spray them with dawn Power Dissolver and let sit for 10 minutes and rinse them off and let air dry....and good the go after....

I hope Danase keeps these pads going..they have worked the best so far on both machines....

I have the yellow, orange ,green ,white, blue, and black...

The yellow is pretty agressive....the orange cuts nice but does leave some haze..the green is my favorite pad..it cuts and gives a nice finish..LSP ready...the white I use for lite swirls and works great..my second best pad....

the blue I use for PO85RD...the black I use for the Menz glaze if I use it....

best pads i have used....my Edge sit now..

You guys use the 4" backing plate with the 5" pads correct?

Edit: My bad, I mean 3.5"

Edit 2: Sorry guys, I should read first, then ask. According to Danase website...

"This 3.5" Urethane Backing Plate should be used with the Lake Country Manufacturing 5" pads or the Cyclo 4" pads. It has a thread size of 5/16" x 24 threads. Fits most popular dual actiuon polishers."

I've actually used it with LC's 4.75" backing plate on the PC.

You can use it with the 5" plate, which is actually 4.75". I just don't put that on my site because I am afraid that some of the more unexperienced might hit the backing plate on their paint. If you care careful the 5" plate works.

I've found that the glue / velcro backing on the pads that extends all the way out to the edge of the pad, can inflict as much damage as the backing plate touching it. The correction abilities with the 5" pad and plate are quite fantastic. It also seems to make the PC feel better balanced. I had the chance to use it for awhile on my roommate's Audi. Currently using your 5" pads as well as meguiar's 6" pads on my metabo. Both are great and both have their designated uses.

Nothing real constructive to add... but Danase's 5" CCS pads are the %$!& !

I use the smaller backing plate for just the reason Bob posted... I'm a bit inexerienced and want to stay safe. But the 4.75" backing plate does fit perfectly.

Wow...made my decision even harder!! I think I might be best off getting an orange, a green and a white. I think I will have my bases covered. Orange can be for stubborn swirls, green for normal marring, and white for final polish? Does this seem right?

Let me know...I'm intrigued by these pads!

I would get:

Orange - compounding

Green - heavy polishing/finishing hard paints

White - polishing/finishing

Blue or black - glazing/finishing for softer paints

*I* would just get orange and green. Green finishes fine on my Honda's and they're pretty soft. Orange will correct most issues. You might pick a pad for LSP application.

+1 . . . I also like using black for AIO / glaze applications.
