carjockey.com - a waste of time and $$

well it' been about 1 1/2 weeks since I posted on Autotrader.com to sell our car. I recv'd a msg from carjockey.com that 'they were interested in purchasing my vehicle'.

What a joke. For 29.95 they say they will have a buyer for you in 5 days at trade/auction value. Well, I have to admit, they were in fact punctual in their response - 4 days. And the price they say they are being offered at dealer auction is 6800.00 and 'Our bids are typically within 6%-10% of the price you should expect to receive in an individual-to-individual transaction. '

KBB and edmunds suggest trade in at well over 9000.00 and private party sale at close to or over 11000.00. Guess I will wait for the right time and not rush anything.

I would whole heartedly not recommend carjockey.com to anyone. I guess that was a $30 lesson I won't repeat again.:scared

Have you figured out what wholesale value is on your car (I assume were talking about the Focus)? What I mean is, have you had it appraised by wholesalers to determine the real wholesale market price?

KBB is notoriously out of whack on many of their valuations. Occassionally they're pretty close but more often than not, they're out to lunch. If you are basing your opinions and the car's market value on KBB.com, you could be making a big mistake.

I know some people in the wholesale biz. If you'd like I can get you a pretty accurate wholesale number for your car. I need a full description of it: Year, mileage, color, options, describe any damage or repairs, location, etc.

This is not as accurate as an in-person appraisal so I'm dependent on a realistic description from you. Don't omit anything bad as it will only screw the numbers.

From there you can decide who really is offering you real numbers.

Good luck. Lemme know if I can help.

thanks for the offer. The last dealer I spoke with about the focus, they were offering me 8Kwholesale. So I'm pretty confident about the 6800 number from carjockey.com being a low ball number.

Anyways, check out my thread on abay for a full description. If you have the time to double check, great, if not - no worries.

Oh well, I am just going to sit and wait and hopefully the right buyer some along.

Just as a follow up, your wholesale number is dead on - $8000 is market accurate.

Good luck with the sale of your car. It looks very nice and I'm sure the stereo will blow away potential buyers.
