caring for my tonneau

just purchased and installed a tonneau cover on my truck. i have some 303 aerosol protectant, is that enough to keep it looking new and protect it or do i need to spend mo money...:D

Just a heads up,if you have a painted cover be careful with it because the paint is very thin. Also, on painted ones, stress cracks will appear on the paint over time. You can repaint it, but it will only come back.

Congrats on your purchase !
Is it a hard tonneau cover that is painted, or a soft vinyl cover that is held up with metal bows, etc., ?
I have had a couple of Ford soft vinyl covers in the past, and tried 303, and other things, and they just ran off in the rain up here making the sides of the truck look really bad. I finally did a little research on these covers and found that they best left alone and just washed and dried as normal. They had a texture to them, so even washing them required a tire brush or something stiff enough to get into the texture.
I am sure that if you dont like around this part of the world, it will have to be easier, as our rain really promotes algae, mold, etc., growth about everywhere on anything left outside..
Good luck with this !

didn't want a hard tonneau simply cuz i still use it to haul occasionally and a hard one just makes the truck bed an 8' trunk. got a vinyl one cuz i can just roll it up when i need it out of the way.
