Don't beat yourself up about how the Pinnacle Souveran (I'm guessing that's their "expensive paste wax") looks on metallics; it's my wife's fave on Audi silver and yeah, she can spot it...or rather, she can tell when something else is on that particular paint. If you don't mind its lousy durability and things like dust attraction, then there's nothing wrong with it IMO. I do like it on exterior trim too, I pretty much use it on every exterior surface of my Jag except the glass and the tires (even use it on all the other exterior rubber).

Just trying to look on the bright side since you already bought the stuff ;)

Hehe thanks, that makes me feel a little better about it.

Nat3- Don't drive yourself nuts with this stuff.

Much as I like TOL and hate to take business from Irene, I wouldn't get that SmartWax kit as IMO it has reduncancy and stuff you don't really need.

Polish? What...you gonna buy a polisher and pads too? Things get complicated and expensive when you get into that. Wanna go there now or not?

For the paint, I'd get some type of all-in-one (probably recommend Autglym Super Resin Polish on a black driver), or a glaze-like paint cleaner and then just apply Collinite 915 (or any other Collinite really...). I'm pretty confident that SRP/Collinite would satisfy you.

For the interior I'd just keep it clean and use some Meguiar's Interior Quick Detailer on it.

You gonna wax the wheels or just use wheel cleaner on 'em? If the latter, I like Griot's Wheel Cleaner.

Get some kind of dressing for the tires (I like Zaion Z16).

IMO there's no need to go off the deep end right now, you could just do the above and it'll look fine. But OK, since this is Autopia, well....if you want to get into a more serious approach the sky's the limit ;)

Thanks!! Yeah it is frustrating/annoying me looking at all the different kinds stuff... lol

As for polish I might not do it now but probably definitely in the future. I do not want to get a machine I would rather do it by hand. :)

As for the wheels. I really do not know what wax would do on a wheel? Is it better to wax them or just use cleaner?

Thanks for the suggestions!!!!

Wash: optimum or Duragloss

Towels: Microfibertech.com

sealant: blackfire wet diamond

Maintenance wax: Duragloss 951 every few washes

Well, I can pretty much guarantee that you won't attain the same level of correction by hand, even if you do spend, say....several hours per panel. But OK...if working by hand I'd lean towards a) products that simply work OK by hand, and not all do, b) products that do a bit of concealing, and c) the most user-friendly stuff you can get.

For a polish you can use by hand, I'd probably recommend 1Z Paint Polish. Top with the Collinite. With all the stuff I have on the shelf, that's probably the combo I'd reach for.

For now, the Autoglym Super Resin Polish topped with Collinite still sounds good to me.

The jury is still out on that one. The Conventional Autopian Wisdom is that you oughta polish and wax your wheels and then just clean them with shampoo mix. And that's what I usually do. BUT...I've also tried (after discussing it with Tom P.) just using a Wheel Cleaner and spritzing on some FK425 QD afterwards. Eh...can't really say that one approach is better than the other :nixweiss So I'll at least say that neither way is *wrong* IME.

Humm... So a machine is really better? I guess I can consider buying a machine then. Could you recommend a decent machine that is not too expensive and the polish for it too I guess :)

griots garage 6", hd uno polish with megs mf pads or the 3d pads. there are many other options for pads and polishes. but uno works with any pads you may choose.

i've got one car with waxed wheels and the other i use a maintenance wheel cleaner on. wouldn't say one method is better than the other. as for what to wax the wheels with i would use a good sealant like fk1000, os, oc (actually a coating), or gtechniq c5.

I don't know what to buy... To many choices :(

So far all I know I will buy right now is.

Soap: Meguiar's Gold Class

Cobra: MF towels

lol

Should I just pick something and see how I like it?

What did you end up getting?

If you haven't decided yet, I think you should first look at availability. Some of these products you will only be able to order online, others such as Meguiar's etc.. you can usually find at your local auto store.

Price is also a thing to consider. BFWD is what I use and it is not overy expensive ($30), but it is a bit more than most of the off the shelf products at auto stores. If you've been thinking about using BFWD, it's really a no brainer IMO.
