Car Scratches?

Hello all,

I just bought a car, brand new and somebody's already scratched it up. I am assuming. I have the normal bumper to bumper warranty, and all that I took the extended service plan. Does anybody know if paint jobs are covered in either of these? What would the estimate charge be if I took it to an auto repair store? It is minor scratches in one part so nothing major.

Thanks and Regards.

George

Its normal wear and tear and not covered by any (normal) warranty. Its likely covered by your insurance, but it may not be advisable to go that route.

Unfortunately, most people think that scratches are normal. I've had lots of dealership people tell me that "all cars have scratches"

Welcome George!

How minor are your car's scratches? You may be able to get rid of them yourself and save yourself the hassle of taking it to a body shop and maybe end up with more paint defects then you bargained for. Or if you don't have the time to do it yourself, I'm sure there are Detailers here in your area that might be able to take a crack at it.

The "newest" car I have had it's drivers side mirror taken off by either a fire truck or a garbage truck (both came down the street and rubber transfer on the mirror suggests a larger vehicle) 12 days after buying it. Since then (4 yrs) it's been taken off 5 times. Sucks living in the city with only street side parking!

You better start folding that mirror in when you park it! Or make sure the next vehicle you purchase has folding mirrors
