Car covers and convertible top care...

Noods

Man of mystery
I recently purchased a car canopy for my convertible. The canopy is great in that it keeps rain and other debris off of my car. Bugs and dust still accumulate on my car, so I am going to need to use a car cover. I need to replace my current car cover, but I have some concerns.

No matter what I do, I can never seem to keep my convertible top (white) clean. I am concerned the car cover is actually holding debris against the convertible top.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to good car covers for a 93 convertible mustang? I dont really know the dos and donts for using car covers. Also, does anyone have any suggestions for covertible top care in general?

Thanks!

Welcome to DC Noods,

Nice ride I like Fox body verts... not as much as I like the SN95 body style.(I tend to be kinda biased as I own one)

Convertible top care!

You have a vinal roof so it couldn't be any easier to take care of!

Step 1. I take a Spray bottle and mix up a solution of Car wash... I use the same amount of soap in a small spary bottle as I do in my 2 gallon wash bucket!

Step 2. Wet down the Roof

Step 3. Mix up a bucket of auto wash!

Step 4. With your spray bottle spray a section of the roof and then dipping your brush into the wash bucket start scrubbing your roof. I typicly will go over my roof 2 times and then wash the rest of the car!

Step 5. Dry with a towel and then allow the roof to air dry for approx 2 hrs.

Step 6. Apply 303 Protectant! I have a Terry Cloth Wax applicator that works great. I spray about 2 spritzes worth of 303 onto the applicator and then apply in circular motions into the roof. I will usually give the roof 2 applications of 303 following up a week later with the second application.

Im not a full beleiver in car covers unless you are keeping your car inside a garage. They seem to do more damage than they are worth.

303 is great stuff you can typicly pick it up at any local auto parts store IE:Pepboys, auto zone.

For the rag I have used Ragg Topp you can find it here with the sponsors or online. the cleaner and condtioner are great just follow the directions........For a car cover for cleaning I take mine to the dry cleaners once a year or so. Also the best car cover that I have seen on the market is Noah brand

The best car cover for outside protection is a Weathershield or Weathershield HD. They are more expensive than the Noah covers, but they will outperform them when it comes to dust and rain. A bonus is they can be folded up much smaller and this makes it easy to wash at home instead of going to a laundromat.
