Captured: The Ruins of Detroit

Apathy, disinvestment, and finally economic disaster...that about sums it up.

Detroit is only allowed to look this way because it's Detroit. It's not politically popular to put cash into Detroit. This city is a disaster zone...I don't see how it could be viewed any other way.

What a shame to see those beautiful historic buildings rotting away. Some real craftsmen put a lot of effort into creating that and now it's turning to dust. Entropy is a *****.

Cool pictures, but its nothing new. This has been going on for decades in Detroit. I did some work in downtown Detroit around 2001 and was blown away by how many abandoned buildings there were. I wanted to do some exploration but didn't have time.

It really is nuts, every time I drive through Detroit I am amazed at all the potential that is being wasted by allowing buildings to rot and decay, especially since so many of them are still in restorable condition.

Nice pictures. Amazing how these incredible structures are left to rot. Detroit has been the armpit of America for decades. They've been trying to revitalize parts of the city for a while actually, but it's still a craphole to live and raise a family in. If they build it up too much it might push out more scum into the suburbs.

I've never been to Detroit, but I've heard the stories of the massive abandoned buildings. The ones that stuck out with me were the train station and the David Whitney Building. It's amazing that those have been abandoned the way they have been.

And the police station that has file folders and pictures all over the ground ???? If I didn't know better, I'd say that was staged.... isn't there some requirement for privacy of those files ?
