Cant Get Polish Out of Pads

I cant get the OP completely out of my foam pads. I put the pads in dawn overnight and then washed in the morning, but if I squeeze the foam, a little bit of OP comes out. Is there any method I should use? It is ok just to leave the OP in there? I guess I could remove all of it by hand, but that would be time consuming...

I put a few circles of Dawn on the pad, run under the hottest water you can stand, and knead the pad with your fingers until all of the soap is out... It might take 2 tries, but it works...



If it doesn't come out with that, then I wouldn't worry about it :)
 
I have the same problem with IW 845, RMG and #16. For the life of me I cannot get these products out. SSR1 Turned my white pads pink, but never left a residue behind.



I have a new handi grip foam applicator from sonus for #16, but how do I get the #16 out? Dawn worked a little, but did not get all of it out.

Yeah, a lot of products stain the pads for eternity, but as long as they don't leave any residue behind in the pads, the damage is purely asthetical-- not to worry!
 
Use dishwashing soap in warm water in a tub, do not use hot hot water as it deterioates the foam. Place the pad facing up and compress the pad with multiple and rapid compressions and all the product or dirt will be forced out, if not let sit for 30-60 minutes and compress again. Pad will come out cleaner the clean this way.
 
OP can be tough to remove from pads. If you can get you hands on it, try laundry soap in bar form. Rub the bar directly on the pad, let it stand, and then rinse.
 
Has anyone here tried the DP polishing pad rejuvinator - its a powder form (can find it on autogeek.net) I love it - gets klasse out like its water . . . xmt and other pinnacle products comes out easy aswell . .

+1 for the DP. The toughest product for me is UPP and the DP is great at removing it.

Klasse is not really hard to get out of pads because it's water based.
 
Yeah OP can be a bear to rinse out. I've found that even dish soap struggles with it. I use Hi Temps Akrya as a paint cleaner and it can do double duty as a pad cleaner as well. I just mix some in a 5 gallon bucket of water and dump my pads in, work it through a little then let them sit for awhile before rinising them out in the sink.



My other polishes are all water based and come right out but I find I need to let the pads with Optimum in them soak a little longer.

Some product will be more forgiving when you let them dry and then wash out. However, there are some finicky ones that work just the opposite way.
 
I have found that the Optimum Compound is pretty difficult as well, but I just rinse them out a little with the hose, then let them soak for a few minutes in the sink with warm water and dawn, then squeeze for a while like I got Pamela Anderson down there. It all comes out, and I get a nice little daydream in at the same time.
 
I've known that for quite some time. I always get thrown out during the initial consultation, though.



That's not even the worst of it. I only have a couple vehicles that I have to detail, and I'm not in the polishing cycle right now, so I took the PC and Optimum to the shower last night because I needed a PC "fix". My wife suggested that next time I should do it with the water running...don't know why she said that. :think:
