Can't get it right, new to PC

Well,

I bought the 7424.. Meg's cutting pad/polishing pad.. DACP

Some autozone Step 2 Polish from Meg's and NXT - didn't want to spend 2 much money on products before I even knew wat the hell I was doing..

a week ago I went ahead and detailed the car (black s2000). went over with DACP and the 7006 pad for a good bit but I didn't know of working it till it dusted.... but it got a lot of swirls/scratches off... using 4k RPM..

then followed up with the polish on the polishing pad at about 3.5 and finally NXT by hand.. Looked great, but I had a lot haze...

Read up some online.. tried again...

This time I was told DACP wth polishing pad about 4k RPM and work till dusted... did that, then followed up with the step 2 meg 4.99 polish and finally NXT..

less haze, but still haze, car looks great but not perfect - Is it my products? Technique?

Here is my opinion. Some people have hazing problems with DACP. The Meg`s step 2 polish is not designed to remove hazing. It is a chemical polish. that is so far as I know. If you got DACP you should be able to also get some of Meg`s polishes such as swirl free polish, speed glaze or swirl remover 2.0. These are needed to get it right. However, my favorite is 3M Perfect It III Machind Glaze. A lot of people here at DC would recommend Poorboy`s SSR 1. Take your pick. It has mostly to do with working with black. It has to really be done right or it will show. Wouldn`t hurt also to be working at 5 with the PC. But stay away from 6. It ain`t worth it. And use a polishing pad rather than a cutting pad for the final polish.

Your haze is coming from the fact that the DACP didn't break down correctly. You aren't using a high enough speed setting to do this. The PC should be set on 5, maybe even 6 for the really bad areas and go over the car VERY slow, almost a snail's pace. You were working it until it dried, but that's all you did. It never broke down, but instead just dried off.

You also need to use a secondary polish like these guys are recommending. It really doesn't matter which one you go with, Meg's #80 would be my pick with a polishing pad and then some #9 again with a polishing pad but if you use #80 correctly, you should be able to go right on top of that with your NXT.

So. Next time polish the whole car with DACP - cutting pad on setting 5, then #80 - polishing pad on setting 5, and finally (if needed) #9 - polishing pad on setting 5. You can even apply your NXT with a finishing pad on setting 3.5-4. This should give you the haze free results you are looking for.
 
Just a suggestion.
Why not try some of these ideas on one section rather than doing the entire vehicle and finding you didn't get the results you were looking for?
Once you find the right combination, you can do the rest of the car.

Hey geminigsr, when working on black it shows everything. This is what I do. If you have heavy swrils then use the 7006 w/dacp on 5 work small areas 2x2, overlap by half each time, go back and forth, up and down, you don't have to take them all out just most. Then switch to a 8006 w/dacp on 5, again 2x2 working VERY slowly until it breaks down, wipe off, inspect, if it needs more do it again. If the pads starts to build up product spray once with water, don't over do it, and do the whole car. Then take some 80 speed glaze on a 8006 at 4, work it in good, it breaks down fast and will remove all the hazing that is left. Then go to your NXT x2 w/9006. Do not let any of the product dry on your car except the wax. I have used this on many cars and trucks and it work very well. Again with black you have your work cut out for you but with time and effort it will look amazing. If you have other questions I can help with let me know.
