Can't buff it out, 3rd damn time this year

Wow, that looks pretty bad, glad you made it out ok. Things happen in threes, lets hope that was #3.

OMG. Glad you are ok. That said, never a bad idea to get checked out. It can take a few days for all symptoms to come to a head so be careful and take it easy.

Sorry about the car. Man, that was a hard hit. Never seen a rotor just snapped like that. Horrendous impact, obviously. You are lucky.

The bump on the head went away pretty fast, never had any dizziness, nausea, loss of balance, headache, etc. Feel perfectly fine, the cuts have already healed as well.

Astro-the problem was that once I started to hydroplane, my car didn't slow down at all and I was going down a slight incline. The curb in the median isn't even 2" high in that area so when I went over it, the impact removed the tires from the rims and I just kept sliding. If there had been a normal 5-6" curb there, I probably would have just hit that, broken the wheels on that side and stopped. Did a 180 to hit the pole, then I spun into another 180 after striking it. Was a little confused on my direction when the cops showed up, I though west was east and east was west. On that road, in that area at night, there just aren't enough identifying landmarks to establish your direction and I thought I'd only spun 180 degrees total.

Looks like the car hunt is over. My Dad called me tonight to see how the search was coming along. Told him I'd looked at a V6 Accord, had another one to look at tomorrow and maybe a Maxima on Monday. He then said he was getting a Nissan Frontier in the next day or two and asked if I wanted to buy his '04 V6 Accord. 75k miles on it and meticulously maintained mechanically by him and cosmetically by both me and him. Put Opti-Coat on it a couple years ago. Guess all I will need to do it wash it the next 8 years or so...

Nice! Sounds like that worked out well for you, Scott.

Going to miss that VQ35 midrange torque, but I won't miss popping for premium fuel. Besides, other than the lack of HIDs, the Accord is more refined than the Maxima is.

HIDs are a minor issue; those can always be added via a projector retrofit...

Scott, your going to love the Accord! Got a 06' and love it! Easy to work on, easier on the wallet to drive, good mileage. Your Dad's is the silver one right? Good shape if it is! At least you know who's been taking care of it and its not beat on. I'm pretty sure theres a kit out there for the HID's.

Scottwax- Gee, that was quick! Very timely decision on your dad's part.

Totally came out of the blue. Apparently he's been working the numbers with a couple dealers the last few weeks, says he has the best price hammered out and was probably getting the truck today.

maxepr1-actually the car is gold-ish. Paint is still 95% swirl free.

Glad you are OK ! ,That looks like a hard hit for a slow speed. It goes to show you what an important part tires are, and they should be replaced when near the end of their tread life.

Dave-I actually got nearly $900 more than I paid for my Maxima even minus my deduction. I knew I got a smoking deal when I bought the car, I actually ended up making some money on it! :)

Just picked up my Dad's Accord this evening.

Wow Scott, glad to hear you are ok. I just can't believe the Officers cited you. This Texas coppers must be real ball busters. Well at least you weren't injured too much.

I can't get over how much quieter the Accord is than either of my Maximas were. The XM is really nice. Subscription runs out in a couple months, going to renew it for sure. Probably going to debadge it over the next few days. Got some speakers (Alpines) I pulled out of my first Maxima I'm going to install too.

Glad everything is coming back together for you! Congrats on the Accord, youll love it! I also noticed the difference in sound between the Accord and Maxima but mine is a 4 cylinder so it's not a true comparison. Oh and I think you're really going to like the debadged look

The Accord is about as quick as my 4AT Maxima was, but not as quick as my 6MT Maxima. However, I did find out that according to the USA Today article when the 7th gen V6 cars first came out, an engineer for Honda said while the engines were designed to run fine on regular, using premium nets a 10 hp/10 lb-ft gain. Plus, using a solenoid adjustment tool, give the solenoids a 1/4 turn which will increase line pressure in the automatic slightly and firm up and quicken the shifts. Apparently a 1/4 turn is the sweet spot, good compromise between the soft OEM shifts and hard bang shifts. Plus an cold air intake ought to get me a little closer to the 6MT Maxima and be a whole lot quieter and more refined doing it. :)

Probably have to leave the "H" when I debadge the car, I believe there are mounting holes for it. But the "Accord" and "V6" will go, I like how the blacked out mufflers and tips make the dual exhausts subtle and give the car a sleeper look.
