Canon Rebel XT

Good luck on the sale Johnny. Ive bought and sold glass on POTN will excellent success.. Post processing is the absolute fun part of photography when you get into the DSLR scene... Here's one from Amsterdam from last month.

Very nice pictures guys---I have been wanting to get the D40 but all this talk of the XT...hmmmm? I have heard the D40 is the better of the 2---Dont know
 
The D40 is not a bad camera by any means, it's just that Nikon tried to pull a quick one and only made it possible to fit very few lenses on that camera. With the XT, any lens available will fit.
 
Just wanted to update everyone as to how I am out of the corner now...I purchased a used Rebel XT that is in mint condition, under 6,000 clicks on the body. I have a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens arriving tomorrow and will post up some pictures in the photography thread when I get a chance. The addiction begins...



Oh and anyone looking for camera information...I highly suggest this website

Great to see that you were able to find a Rebel XT! How much did you end up paying for it? I managed to pick up the Rebel XT (kit w/ lens) for $482.
 
Canons are very nice cameras, I almost bought a rebel but it was just too small for me and I liked the Nikon ergonomics a tad better.



A great priced 2 lens system I've found is the Tamron 17-50 2.8 coupled with the Sigma 50-150 2.8. Both are great lenses and can be had for less than 1k total. Also, look into the 50mm 1.8, fantastic lens for the price.

I bought this XT for $464 and then paid $90 for a Canon EF 50mm F1.8 Lens to start out with



I have taken a few pictures but have a question if anyone could help me. Sometimes when I take pictures it records to the CF card and I can view them on the camera but when I connect the camera to my computer only some of the images will appear so I can actually transfer them. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks guys

Sounds odd Josh. Before calling up Canon and sending your Rebel XT to a repair facility I'd try a couple different CF cards to see if they all do it, ruling out a bad CF card.

Did you take the pictures in Raw format?



PS: Canon's customer service is top notch. Call before midnight and they will do everything to get to the bottom of it. 1 800 OK CANON
 
Hmmm, somehow I missed this one. Been shooting with a 350D since May of '06. Only have one lens, the aforementioned 28-135 IS USM lens. Great little walk around lens.

Thanks for the help guys, since I posted last I haven't had any problems again so maybe it was just my card acting up. Here are a few shots I took over the 4th, nothing too special but just thought I would keep updating the thread as I go. Hoping to add another lens soon.
