Can you layer a sealant and carnuba?

I have some Danase Paint Sealant. I also have 845. If I was to apply 2 coats of sealant 8 - 12 hours apart, come back in 12 hours and apply 845, you that be overkill? I was thinking on just using the sealant for the winter months, as I wax the car every 2 weeks in nice weather? Would I SEE any difference in look with the two? Anyone done this?

Well, with those two particular products I don't know if the 845 will help in the looks department. It may help with beading and protection (amazing with 845) and maybe durability (don't know how durable the DPS is but the 845 should last anywhere from 3-6 months depending on many factors). As far as looks though, 845 is a solid performer, not a glamor wax but if the surface is well prepped to begin with it will look great. To sum it up, the visual affects of 845 over a sealant would probably be insignificant.

Yes, just like waxing every two weeks, that would be overkill.

I think "the perfect shine" was carnuba over sealant.

One of the reasons I quit topping my sealants with carnauba is that I sometimes had a "dead wax residue" issue. There were slight artifacts of compromised wax left on top of the sealant after the wax had given up the ghost. It was kinda tricky to clay that off without compromising the sealant enough that I'd end up redoing the whole thing.

When it comes to waxes like Collinite, I dunno if there's any real advantage to having a sealant under them anyhow; Collinite lasts as long as some sealants all by itself.

Thanks, have you had any experience with Danase Paint Sealant. Have not used it yet, just the 845 and that looks great!

No it wouldn't. Not if you're using a wax like Gold Class that only lasts 2-3 weeks. I probably put on EX-P every 2 weeks during the summer. There's absolutely nothing wrong or "overkill" about it.

No, sorry...haven't tried the Danase Sealant :nixweiss

Gotta admit that I sorta lean towards a minimalist approach on this stuff...but I don't want to imply that a more involved job, like Danase's Wet Glaze followed by his Sealant, wouldn't turn out great, and far be it from me to discourage anybody from spending money with Bob :D But OTOH if you like how it looks now, *I* would just leave it alone.
