Can Sealants be swirled?

usdm

I'll figure it out....
It's been a while since I've done a polish. But I do know that
immediately after the polish, I proceeded to apply sealants
to the paint. Now, that we are in the winter, I've been playing
around with spray and wipes, primarily the express detail type
polymer/ wax sprays. During some work I did on the car
today (pics upcoming in the Fun with Spray and Wipes.. lnk),
I took some pics and noticed some heavy marks. You cant really see
them in sunlight, but under the flash, you can see a heavy halo. I
thought this was rather disturbing, and led me to the above question.
Is it possible that I've swirled the hardened sealant?

Sounds like you either didnt get all the oils off the surface after polishing, or there additional oils from the sealant. Could also be a compatibility problem with the products your using if there not matching products. Wait a day and then hit it with the instant detailer and see what happens next time.....

It just sounds like you still have product oils on the surface, and may have smeared it around with the instant detailer. You really need to let any polys set up a day or so, or at least expose them to some sunlight after their applied.

The polish removal thing I've discussed with the Menzerna folks
a while back. Truth be told, I did encounter some problems
in the past, but after a while, I did not have them any more.
Unlke some that use FP or IP, I tend to run the product just
to the point of light dusting. After that, I used to either give
the car a wash or just wipe down the panels with something like
prepwash, presol, or Final Inspection. But sinse FI indicated
it had some gloss enhancers, I got worried that it might affect
polish removal, so i pretty much stopped using it for a while.

I also thought about the curing thing as well, but I wan't sure.
I did the the sprays about 2-3 hours before the snow hit us
last Sunday, then I had to take the car out to do something.
If I had any idea that was going to happen, I would have just
washed the car and left the spray until later this week.

But i will take your advise and see what happens. Thanks Patrick.

I've read several times of the possiblity of swirling only the multiple layers of Klasse SG on a finish. I was lucky last year only once for that to happen but since, sadly, any micromarring I get is indeed in the paint :(. Hope others' luck is better than mine
