I really don't understand this misconception that all carnauba waxes are not durable. Meguiars #16 and Collinite 476S/845 are all carnauba waxes that provide awesome durability, quite on par with sealants like Duragloss and Zaino. Just like there are sealants that are lacking in durability (ICE, anyone?), there are also carnauba boutique waxes that are lacking in durability but excel in looks.

I haven't used a carnauba so I have no experience to fall back on. I was simply relaying what numerous posters have said. I have heard Collinite has good durablility but generally speaking, won't a typical sealant have noticably better durability than a typical carnauba?

Mmm... Well, it's hard to say what a "typical" sealant/carnauba is. Like I mentioned earlier, Turtle Wax ICE is a sealant and its durability, from what I've hard, is absolutely horrible.

Sure, I suppose the majority of carnaubas are geared more towards the "boutique" and looks department, but carnaubas like Collinite can last a good 5-6 months maximum, just as do sealants like Duragloss/Zaino/Jeff Werkstatt's. I guess the final consensus would be that sealants are, on the average, somewhat more durable than the average carnauba wax.

So to answer your question, I don't think that a durable sealant would have noticeably more durability than a durable carnauba, but a little (1-2 more months, maybe).

For looks on black it's hard to beat Megs #7 topped w/ 26. I just did this on my car again last night and it never ceases to amaze me. Out of all the different product/combo's I try.....#7/#26 is the one I always go back to. 26 has decent durability too.

^^That's assuming that you are willing to stick with a carnuba rather than sealant. I personally think some carnubas just can't be beat as far as looks on black.

This is what I was referring to.

But I will buy this also.
