Pstone- What Bill D said about the 3M SMR, I don't like it either. The 39002 is OK, similar to the 05933, but as Bill said, the 1Z stuff is almost always a better choice. Just our opinions, though.
I'd return the SMR. If you want to use the 39002, you'll still have to follow up with a milder product. If you can't find the 05937, I'm not sure what I'd recommend. I have too many polishes around, can't remember what to do when one does *not* have a dozen choices
Order the 1Z Ultra Polish, Paint Polish, and Metallic Polish (or the Wax Polish Soft).
I got my backing plates from CMA, most of my pads too. I like using 6.5" or 7.5" pads instead of the "usual" bigger ones. I think the smaller ones are more controllable. The 6.125" "Euro" flex pad works well with 7.5" pads. I also got a *small* (maybe 3.4"/4") backing plate to use with my Cyclo-size pads. *Very* handy for spot repairs. CMA has everything you need. You could also check out TOL, though. I like to give Irene at TOL business whenever I can.
Can't really tell you which pads to get; everyone has their own preferences and you'll have to try different ones to find out what *your* preferences are. But I would *not* get the "finger" pads unless you're working with a lot of single-stage.
