Wow...I haven't seen reference to it yet so I'll plug this...
IMHO, friction = abrasiveness to your detailing product.
Here's what I do and I love the results:
1. Low flow with the hose to sheet the majority of the water off
2. Electric leaf blower - start with the roof and work down, and just be careful not to blow dirt/grime back onto your paint. If done with caution, this gets ALL the water out of the lines/trim/handles, emblems, etc.
3. WW or MF to pick up any remaining droplets
4. Then I do a spray product - AW or something similar, and I'm set.
The benefit of the blower is that you get ALL the water off the car, so if you're going to do polishing or waxing, it's ready to go. And there's no friction of rubbing anything on your paint.
