California Duster

>>bc wax attracts dust <<

Ok, well, thats what I thought. Over time, the paraffin obviously dries or comes out.. so why not spray on a light coating of carnuba from time to time, and let it dry out?

Ive heard some people wash there's. Is there any point in washing? Dont you remove any of the paraffin it came with, if any of it is left? If it works better when dirty (black), then why wash it?

When I got my newest one last year I let it sit on newspaper and changed positions on it for 10 days. That way the paraffin didn't just soak back into the yarns.

I had mine for three years and it still works great. I just let it sit on the newspaper for like a day and use it on ur friends cars for the first few times. LOL now it works great.

I wonder if more wax is being added to CCDs these days. When I fgot my first few, yep, all it needed was to sit for a day on the newspaper then it was fine. I was surprised how much was on when I got my most recent one last year.

I called CCD a few years ago and asked about the plastic handled CCD. They said yes it is a genuine CCD and many like the plastic handle one better due to it's being lighter.

so much for the false claims from some dealers who state, ' Only buy the authentic CCDs... Those cheap plastic handled ones are fakes...', etc, etc. thanks for the info.

It has always been my opinion that the CCD is just like any other cotton mop you can buy in the housewares store. It is also my opinion that the reason it works better with age is because the dirt has covered up and/or removed the wax which is totally useless to begin with. I have a CCD but I washed it and removed the wax, I think it works better.

To those who believe there is no residue left on the car, pass the CCD over your windshield and then tell me what you see.

Or pass it over a black car on a warm day.

I've had mine for a year now and I love it. I don't however like to see it very dirty. If the threads start looking black I usually rinse it off with hot water. It seems to be working the same after the wash.

DFTowel -

So you can wash the CCD? Does that get all the wax out? I've shelved mine since no matter what I do I cannot get it to stop leaving streaks on my black car. It's sat on newspapers for weeks, used it at least ten times and I finally just got fed up with it.

Nutting

I'm now convinced CCD must be using too much wax on the dusters these days, maybe there's a breech in quality control? :nixweiss. May I got one of the last ones that works ok after I set on newspaper and changed positions for 10 days first before use. If this is the case I hate to see a pretty decent product go down the tubes but there's loads of quality mfs to choose from to take on the job of the CCD

>>Yup, I've been using an MF and Quikshine to dust and it works great<<

I dont consider them replacements, for one main reason.... The CCD may work better the dirtier it gets; that most assuredly is NOT true with MF towlels!!!
