California Car duster

Used one for a year now on a jet black finish, no ill effects. I wash mine in Griots Chamois cleaner, *much milder than anything household product* and it retains the oils/waxes in the duster so it continues to work well after air-drying it.

I just bought a CCD and it is sitting on the newspaper right now. I appreciate all the warnings regarding its use. I had it sitting on the paper just airing out...with the ropes up untill I read the post about the newspaper absorbing the excess parafin or something. I have the beige handled CCD because I thought it would be better for my compact Passat than the larger one with the ropes going all around the tube. I actually thought the larger one ($19.95) was for trucks and vans. Do you think the larger one actually works better for cars??? If so I could trade in my beige handled one. I also bought the dash one. Anyhow, thanks for the advice on this thread!

Have a black car. Got mine today, haven't decided whether or not I will continue to use it. I went out into the bright sun with a dusty car and dusted in the opposite direction that I do everything else on a small portion of the roof. Didn't see any scratching, but that remains to be see.

I really like the concept though. Between washings you can make your car look much better as well as removing little dust particles during actual detailing.

I've had no problems with mine (the cheap version). All the scratches/swirls in my paint are from the days before I thought about towel usage :o It does a great job of removing the dust right before QD'ing.

I bought mine at Costco in a "kit" with the mini duster and the plastic handle full-size duster. It came with a vinyl casing that seems to absorb a lot of the wax from the duster when not in use.

After hearing all these posts about leaving swirls and scratches, I'm a little nervous about using my new CCD on my new Passat (even though there are a lot of praises for it too). Should I be nervous? Any other precautions? Thank you.

Just got mine (purple handle) need to get it on the newspaper.

Only $99.96 @ Wal-Mart, I also got the samll dash version!:D :bounce

Don't worry, it's great - really. :) I seriously think everyone with a half-decent paintjob should have one because of how quickly it takes dust off your car and makes it really clean.

Just search around a bit and you should find out all you need to know for happy, SAFE CCD use. (Carguy's CCD test thread on this is highly recommended) The key is proper and appropriate usage. :xyxthumbs
