With the sheer size of this monster I didnt have time for many pics at all. Customer wanted a interior detail with a 1 step on the exterior. I pologize for the few pics, but if you have ever detailed one you know why I didnt have time for many pics at all

Finished pics as the sun was setting over the garage

Interior - 1ZCP used on all plastics, 303 on all other surfaces, OPC at 10:1 used to clear interior.

Exterior- Decon wash with Dawn. Clay with HD Final Touch for clay lube. UNO on Orange LC pad, KAIO before LSP, HD metal used on all chrome, P21s wheel gel, dressed tires with OPT tire bond, and wheels waxed with FK1000. LSP was HD Poxy topped with FK 1000.

Thanks for looking and sorry for short write up.

Lotuseffect- Yeah, those are big! Looks nice, how did the Uno/orange work out as a one-step (I'm assuming normal sorta-hard GM clear)?

Thanks for the replies guys.

Thomas,

I really do like topping poxy with fk1000 on gold vehicles. They get extra protection and the color really has good depth to the reflections.

Accumulator,

I have been leaning more and more on UNO for my one steps. I didn't really get all the cut I wanted from this one step because of the brutal clear. But I thoroughly explained to this customer a one step wouldn't remove all the defects but would restore gloss. I'd say I got about 80-85% correction out of it. However, with something more aggressive like 105 on mf, or sip on an orange pad (which I did a test spot with both) it was leaving more haziness than I was comfortable with.

Brad,

I picked up this vehicle and dropped it off when it was complete and I remember thinking. I feel like I am driving my living room down the road!

Awesome work on some serious real estate.

I can tell you, chances are you will probably get a little bit better durability if you put poxy over 1000P. But as you said you like the look. Excellent job. I can't get over how huge these puppies are in person.

Huh?

I'm wondering about the Poxy + FK1000P combo myself...why use the Poxy instead of FK1000P alone? What's the diff in looks?

Accum, thank you - fixed lol.

1000P is considerably more durable that Poxy was in our evals. Its probably because of the type of polymer actives that are in both coupled with their relative "delivery" through the solvents in each product. Poxy does look nice though however with all that prep, I would double coat on 1000P and enjoy the thick sugary look of 1KP

autoaesthetica-Thanks for explaining, so surprise to me that FK1000P is far more durable. I'm generally saying "it looks good enough" and not using it with other LSPs that might enhance the look, but I was curous about whether the Poxy is worth adding.

Lotuseffect- Thanks for that info; yeah, I kinda figured that one-stepping that GM clear would be a pretty tall order.

A perfect example of "eye of the beholder" as I personally think 1000P looks exceptional, even more so on well polished paint. I would think most people classify 1000P as crisp and sharp, whereas poxy seems to get a look of wet and glass?

Depending on what Poxy is made from it might be worth it as a topper, similar to how the "new-gen" top laying sealants perform.. maybe :)

autoaesthetica- OK, I think I know what you mean...tough to verbalize this stuff, huh?!?

Eh, I'm leery of topping my FK1000P lest I have trouble adding more

As I just posted in another thread, I have a (free) bottle of Poxy on the shelf, but I can't figure out what I'll ever use it for :nixweiss

Of course the customer wanted a one step on the exterior. He overspent on the car and can't afford to maintain it. I can't tell you how many escalades and range rovers I see broken down on the side of the road, rims and all, sometimes for weeks at a time. Instead of buying a similarly priced reliable vehicle that was less flashy they just have to get the jaguar or range rover and have no money left over to do stuff like fix a tire or tow to a repair station.

You lost me here..

Maybe he wanted a 1 step because thats all it needed, or perhaps the owner realized that the truck would get used and washed improperly(on account of convenience) so many 1 steps would be in his future?

As a reference, I have a customer who has this vehicle in pearl white, his wife and kids are the primary occupants so he knows it will be trashed and would rather me spend my efforts and his money on his "babies".
