thanks but I would love to see some before & after full sun/light picture of defect removal

I could be wrong but I don't think you have the process down yet

not sure if you are not breaking down the polishes or what but I think you need some

help and there is a lot of help here

Yepp thats why i love this forum. I know i still have a lot to learn. Should i just keep working the polish in? What advise do you have for me?

I don't think you have your swirl removal down yet either. When using a PC to remove swirls/scratches; move slow, very slow and make sure you break down the product completely...

Didn't see that the first time I read the post... You should be able to tell pretty quickly if they will come out then... Do you have a wool pad to try??

I haven't used powergloss before, but it's definitely worth a try... You'll just have to follow up with a foam pad and a polish...

yepp... ile have to try that tomorrow. As to me not breaking down polishes correctly, can you tell what im doing wrong? What do i do to do it correctly?

Well, that's hard to explain... Watch some of the videos that are posted. It's much easier to watch someone do it rather than try to explain.

yea ive watched them and i thought i learned how to do it. I experimented with a few working in times. It seemed after a certain point it didnt make a differance. It seemed like i worked it in enouph to be clear and glossy... i dont know what i was doing wrong.

You many be doing it correctly, I don't know without seeing you polish a panel. You should be able to tell whether or not you are breaking it down.

i have done a repainted car like that before...hardly made a dent in it with a megs burgandy pad and powergloss...I finally just gave the whole car two coats of that, then IP on a orange pad, then rmg, then a sealant....and called it good enough

the owner was more than happy even though it looked like crap to me, but the marring and scratches were not coming out whatsoever!

yea... i am totally sure that the base coat is cracked... i hate working on cars like that but you have to start somewhere.

And sorry i couldnt get a video.

This is where your inexperience comes shining through.

You were advised by more than one person that it looks like the Cadillac in question has been repainted and the aged paint has begun to crack. I personally advised you that it would be better to just walk away from a job like that, rather than risk making things worse. After countless attemps at doing it your own way you would think by now you would have learned that just maybe you don't know it all. Hey, that is why you are here in the first place. Face it, there is no point in trying to do something well, when it should not be done at all. Next time, try to listen carefully to what true professionals are telling you. You may actually learn something.

Emergency over. Happy Thanksgiving, go eat some turkey!

Didnt mean to make you angry... I guess i may not have said this, one of my father freinds was over at the house that night so i asked him to look at it. He is a COMPLETE pro in paint. He told me i was right in the base coat was cracked and then they put a clear coat over it. Also there were swirl marks on the basecoat and the clear coat is so thin you can see them. He also has a lot of experience with buffing so he went at it for a few minutes and said theres nothing i can do.

Are you sure this car has clear coat? If so, they probably didn't do a good job of prepping the surface before they repainted it and it started to check(crack). This really doesn't have much to do with the swirls. 2 different conditions. The swirls won't be under the clear, unless what you're seeing is grinder/sand marks that weren't covered up with the base coat. I don't see any reason why you can't make it look better? I'd try a wool pad with some light compound and see what happens. I'd cover yourself and tell your customer in advance that you can't guarantee the results of the correction with a poor repaint. Let them decide if it's worth it for them to go forward or not.

Yea, im completely 100% sure that this car has a clear coat. I went over it with a wool pad and powergloss along with ip... it got a little better but NOT MUCH at all.
