Strange name, ain't it?
This morning I had an app't with a guy to do his late 90s ragtop vette. I was really looking forward to this job, it's really a nice car. I packed up the truck with all my supplies and as agreed, met him at his house so he could follow me to my shop.

He comes to the door in his robe and says since it is supposed to rain off and on all weekend he wants to reschedule. :( We made the app't over two weeks ago and the forecast has been rain pretty much for the last 3-4 days so he had plenty of time to call me. The fact that he chose not to even call but waited until I showed up really rubs me the wrong way. Very inconsiderate.

Oh well, I'm sure it won't be the last time this happens. Just had to vent.

it happens kindof often for me.

if this happens, and I have any good customers who are scheduled for the next week, I just call them, offer them 10 bucks off to do it right now. If they can't, i just go hang out with friends all day.

That bites Natty... some people should not be rescheduled:nono send him to a butcher:eek:...teach him to cancel on Natty:angry

Steve, don't give Natty any ideas, remember he has Italian blood ....

As a mobile detailer you should be asking for a credit card BEFORE making the appointment and charging a cancellation fee if you don't get a minimum of 24 hours notice. Name another profession where people can pull that nonsense and not get charged for it. Pull that crap with a doctor or dentist and see what happens. Nobody's time (well almost nobody) is more important than yours. Everyone is busy but it doesn't mean you should incure wasted time and a lost appointment because of someone else's carelessness.

When the weather forecast is iffy, I call the person the day before to let them know that there is a chance of bad weather and ask them if they still want the work done or would they prefer to reschedule. That way, I almost never get suprise cancellations and the customer appreciates me letting them know about the possibility of poor weather.

when people come to me to make an appt and i get a bad vibe from them, like they wont show up. I make them leave a 25 deposit for me to hold the date. I then have a form they sign so they know they will not get the money back if they do not show up but it can be uses again for a future date.

My lawyer came up with that idea. I have never had a no show since then, people call and reset up appts.

So if i charge 125, they leave 25 they just need to pay 100 after the detail. If they never show up again, then thats 25 in my pocket for the inconvience and detailing time that i lost.

i dont do this with everyone, only people i get a bad vibe of off.
