Buying my first PC, do pads really matter?

There are so many different ones. I know their cutting ability is different but how would I know which ones are the good? I saw some Sonus ones but seems pricy.



What should I buy? I want to buy a kit because then I would have all my bases covered. I need it for mostly swirl/scratch removal.



Where is a good cheap place to buy a PC online btw? or locally?
 
The sonus pads are great. Ive had mine for about 1 year with no problems. The Lake country pads are still going strong too..



I havent tried teh Sonus SFX pads, I have THESE PADS :2thumbs:
 
I picked up a 7336 from Lowes for $100 an picked up the LC pad combo on line from properautocare.
 
Yes they do matter. If you buy quality pads now you'll thank yourself later. Edge 2000 pads are what I recommend. :buffing: Read my signature below and live by it , you'll never go wrong. :D
 
The DAS pads are very nice. What i like about them the most, is that after i wash them in the sink, i can easily get the soap out of them.



The LC pads i have, i can never get all the dawn out of the pads.



My SFX spot pad rinses pretty easily also, they are on my next pad purchase.

Yeah I've had that happen w/me and my LC pads. I started using my Optimum APC mixed in a 2 gallon wash bucket with water.



Pads come out cleaner with less (squezzing).
 
Another vote for Sonus Das pads here. They are great quality pads and they are easy to clean. I really like the vlecro design on the back. It fits the backing plate I have prefectly.
 
As another newbie myself, I also vote for the DAS pads. So far they've held up great for me and like people have said, they're pretty easy to maintain. One thing though, if you do go with the DAS, you might also want to get an extra green pad. It'll defintely help out when working on those tough jobs and your one of your pads gets caked.

Where is the best place to purchase DAS pads?
 
Be sure the hook and loop fastening pad (aka velcro) is larger than your backing plate, or you'll eat through pads- literally.

LC had a problem recently with this; it's not a pretty thing to happen to a new-ish pad :hairpull .

How can I be sure of this???



Would I need more then one of each pad??? Especially if I want to polish my car first to fix the swirl using different polishes. eg.#80, Optimum (whichever is needed) Is there an advantage for using the PC to apply wax and LSP like WF sealant and S100?
