You would apply it beforehand while your car is still clean, then I would think it would act to help keep rubber and film from bonding as well to the paint. Then you could use the Mothers RRR or Griot`s track spray to help break down any rubber that may have had a chance to bond.
For maximum protection, tape would be the way to go. Rubber, even if liquid as it`s burnt off the back tires, is still going to be an object flying against your paint which has the chance to leave scratches as it passes. Not to mention any dirt/debris that`s being kicked up in the process. I remember cleaning rubber marks off the front of my track car, and after removing the big marks you`d see fine scratches from the impact of the rubber.
