Burnt paint touchup?

Ah... dangit. So today I accidentally burnt some paint on one of my clear coated aluminum rims. Whats the best way to touch up this area to make it less noticeable?

From now on.... Rims get hand polished. Lesson learned.

Alright since no body replied. I tried this on my own. I Went to the store, and bought some clear coat spray paint which is apparently used for touch ups.

This post is for reference. If you searched and found this thread lucky you!

Heres what I did

1. Clay the area you are working on

2. Spray the area with an Alcohol Water Mix (IPA)

3. Mask off any area that you do not want over spray on.

4. Start spraying the area with a very thin coat of paint.

5. Repeat step 4 about 10 times

6. Let the paint dry overnight

After this point... you should see a big ugly blotch where you applied the clear coat, in addition to it being totally obvious. You can feel it as well.

7. I started buffing the area with a white LC pad and Menzerna IP at about 1800 RPMs

Note: I burnt the paint the first time with an Orange pad and IP at 1500 RPMs; not going there again. Atleast not on these wheels, there just isn't enough space to work it. With the white LC pad and Menzerna IP I can comfortably keep the pad in a small area moving it very little without the paint even getting warm.

8. Try step 7 about 5 - 8 times until you can no longer feel the blotch of paint; lower your speed gradually.

9. Finish the area with a LC blue pad and Menzerna Final Polish at 1000 RPMs.

10. Don't forget to seal your rims with some sealant, It really helps keep the brake dust off.

Please don't try this on anything other than clear coated rims, im not sure of the outcome on regular paint with colored base coats.

Results, sorry no before photos or progress photos. It isn't perfect, but it is a lot less noticeable than having burnt white areas.

Just an extra.

(No. That white area isn't burnt paint, that's just the reflection off the 4runners side mirror)
