Building a home detail setup - advice needed

Ok. So far, I have ... a 5 gallon bucket, lol.

I recently moved out of the college and apartment life, purchased a new house and new car. So now that I have the space (and outside water!), and a car I'd like to keep in top shape for a while to come - I'm looking for some suggestions on equipment and products.

Ideally, I'm going to get the basics and add-on as money and need dictate.

From reading forums, it looks like I've decided on:

Aquapel windshield treatment

Grit Guard

Wool wash mitt

303 protectant for the interior

Optimum car wash

MF drying towels

... probably Sonax wheel cleaner and Z-16 for trim/tires.

Later: Pressure Washer & Foam Cannon (or Foam Gun), some powered applicator.

I know that opinions drastically vary for how to treat paint, but I'm looking for a decently-priced solution for protecting and shining my paint.

The car is below, a light-ish silver color with some metallic flake in there.

I'm sort of confused as to the application, but it seems like Klasse AIO + Collinite 476 is a pretty common combination.

Any suggestions for other wax / sealant / combinations? Money isn't really an issue unless someone suggests $90 carnauba.

Anything I'm missing from my immediate list, or my future expansions list?

I live in FL, and drive across Tampa Bay each day for work, if that makes any difference.

Thanks for the forum, it's been a big help so far!

I would add a clay bar kit and a good quick detailer. My preference for quick detailer is FK425.

Since you are in FL, are you located near any of the major online retailer (autogeek).

There are many choices for sealants. Klasse AIO or another chemical cleaner are great. As for sealants - too many options. I would say since you live in a hot humid climate I would not use a carnuba. I am thinking a sealant might be best. I am not sure what would look best so.

FYI for the tires - 303 works just fine, too. I actually use good old Armor all - it is cheap and does the job.

by wool wash mitt, do you mean a sheepskin one? If not I would consider a sheepskin or grout sponge. I would think driving across the bay collinite would be one of the top choices for the durability. Congratulations on graduating and your new purchases.

Wlecome! Kudos on having a picture for the first post, gotta love a good looking WRX :D

If you're using Optimum Car Wash, try some Opti-Seal as well. Looks great on lighter colours and the durability is very reasonable considering its ease of application. Just apply a few coats and be done with it.

I second the 303 on tires as well. Doesn't hold up like some of the more oily dressings, but it doesn't sling and looks decent to boot.

If anything, get a decent APC. Preferably one that is paint and upholstery safe. You can use it on anything from paint to tires to carpets.
