Bug silhouette

I was recently cleaning the bugs off the front of my car after a long weekend roadtrip. After removing what I could with a regular hand washing I broke out the Stoners Tarminator bug and tar remover. I removed all but one small Dragon Fly looking creature. I worked and worked at it with no luck. I then decided to try some clay over that area. No help. The paint is completely smooth after claying so I am convinced this bug has left a perfect silhouette of himself stained into the clear(wings and all)

Is there any way to remove this short of using an abrasive? The car is fairly new and I don’t want to polish until maybe spring of next year.

If it is not possible what is the least aggressive stuff I can try with hopes of it working?

I have some SEPC I will try but I’m not very optimistic about its ability to remove this imperfection.

All input appreciated.

There are some bugs out there that are just brutal to paint. I drove up to Idaho once in my Mustang in the spring and when I came back I had bugs all over the place. One in particular had left some kind of blister on my paint like I had hit a mosquito that just sucked all the acid out of a car battery. It was nasty! Some bugs just do that I guess. Now that I think about it, it was some kind of dragon fly looking bug that did it too... I would love to nail down what kind of bug that was so I can remember not to drive anywhere near the country when it is out and about.

With damage like that you may have to use an abrasive to take care of it. Something like ScratchX may work for you. I've taken out bug stains that way before. If using an abrasive will prevent this bug from further damaging your car from beyond the grave then I would do it. Always act fast on bugs and bird bombs because of the acid content.

I've used ScratchX and Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner with success.

There's an area in Eastern NC where the bugs leave the nastiest, greasiest, waxiest whitish splats you ever saw. I believe they're eating too much pork BBQ.

I think I've been in towns like that, Mmmph. They are like that in Kinston I know. It was the only rental car I didn't even want to detail when I was through with it. The bug gut mess was unbelievable. Blech!

Kinston, yes. One of the many towns in the area to which I was referring. Lots of fresh-water rivers and creeks.

The worst part is, it lasts into October...until the first frost.
