Bug Guards

Detailing Stare
Well, after a year and a half od detailing, I finally got a different idea concerning the bug guard on my truck.

Until now, I've ben using Meguiar's PlastX, which I very much like and does a great job. But I thought, hey why don't I try a couple coats of sealant on this and see how that does. So I've just applied two coats of sealant to it.

So then I thought I'd ask what everyone else uses on their bug guards, question of course being primarily directed at those that have them, but if you don't, ideas are of course stil most welcome.

Oh, and concerning what you've tried, how has it worked for you?

I have a product by Pro called Bug Guard. It's a gel. You apply it to the paint and it allows the bugs to wash easier, saving the paint from etching from their guts.

Where can you buy it?

I am taking this to mean what do you use to polish the plastic bug guard/deflector attached to the front of the hood. So.....I use Poorboy's SSR1, then hit it with whatever sealant I am using at the time. Keeps it looking good as new.

Yeah I realize that but the Bug Guard product can help out quite a bit eliminating stuck on splatter and more importnatly guarding against etching. prowax.com

What's a bug guard? we don't have many of those here in CA :shift

I've been using Novus #2 for ligt scratches and removing haze and acid spots, then the #1 to polish, I finish up with a sealant x 2 for protection.

That's a bug guard. :)

I haven't put anything on mine yet. It hasn't seemed to need it. I haven't hit too many bugs with it so far. The ones I have hit scrubbed off with the back of my wash mit easy enough and I didn't have any damage. I'm glad to know that I can polish it though. It is getting a bit swirly and I didn't know if polishing it would remove some protective coating or anything.
