Bug Damage Protection Question.

Ok guys and gals i have a question/concern. It is once again warm weather and the bugs are out. I have noticed this on my paint if i leave a bug on there for a period of time as short as overnight even they seem to etch into the paint. Nothing seems to get these bug etchings out even though you can only see them if you are very close to the paint and in the right light. But still i know they are there and it bothers the crap out of me. Not to mention now if i go for a drive as soon as i get home i HAVE to wash my hood, even if it is midnight, for fear of etching. Its very troublesome. What kind of wax can i put on to protect more from bugs. Thanks for the help in advance everyone.....
 
I agree with you, I hate driving my convert. at night (thats the best time for it) because of the bugs. My car only has 5,000 miles on it for being a year old and I am anal about the cleanliness of it, so you can imagine how I feel about the bugs.
 
I know if i see one bug hit my hood i want to pull over and hit it with a MF and QD. I hate hate hate getting home late at night and having to wash the bugs off in the dark. Most people leave their bugs on for a week or so but i find if i do this it etches really bad i think i am just more anal than my friends though. I just wish there was a way i could protect it more so i could at least wait a day or so before washing. But then again i would prob be too afriad to wait that long and i would be right out there in my yard again at one in the morning washing my hood. Makin all my neighbors stare. Ha.
 
Oh yeah and is there a type of bug remover i can spray on my hood let it dissolve the bugs and then just rinse off with a hose instead of having to scrub my paint everytime?
 
When I bought my Benz, it came with a 'detailing kit', which included bug remover, tar remover, paint cleaner, wax, wheel cleaner, a bucket, a washmit, and maybe some other stuff (can't recall everything).



I've found that the bug remover works very well. You spray it on, let it sit for a minute (don't let it dry - thus work in the shade, on a cool paint surface), then wash as normal (using a wash mit) and rinse.



The bugs get so bad down here in May/June, that it sounds like rain on the windshield when you drive down a country road.



The best solution that I've found is to apply several coats of Klasse SG to the front of the car, the mirrors, the A-pillar, and the front edge of the hood. This makes it much easier to remove the bugs (using the MB bug remover) every weekend. I then reapply the SG to these areas about every 2-3 weeks (using the WOO method, it only takes a minute).



Every so often I'll come across a bug that can't be removed by the normal method, so then I'll break out the AIO, spot clean the carcass, and then reapply the SG in that area.



I've heard that the MB products are made by Meguiars, but the bottle design of the bug remover makes me think that it is actually a made-in-Germany product. I haven't priced this bug remover at the dealer, but I can tell you that it does work well for me, and I think that it would be worth looking into.
 
the best protection would be a paint protection film.......its sorta like clear contact paper....have it professionally installed...ive only seen it on a car twice.....looks sweet, really cant tell till ur right up on it.....works...
 
As most of us here do, I keep my cars waxed. (I use Zaino.)



When I get home, I just hit the bumper and hood edge with some Z6 and a towell. I have had no etching problems at all.



I also keep a towell and QD in the trunk for emergencies.
