buffing out dressings/protectants

Many of the dressings and protectants that all of us use seem to start out shiny, then are buffed down to the desired look (if less than shiny is desired). Does this buffing action decrease the amount or longevity of the product? Would not some protection be lost due to the friction action of buffing?

the best reply I can give you is the same analogy of using a wax/sealant ....we buff these off after application and we leave enough product to do it's job...

It will also depend on the product..its' directions and ingredients

We use buffing for dressings to control the amount of shine. We buff sealents and wax's to get the uneeded stuff off. Its all by your style and choice if you want extremly glossy or satin.

It probably varies by product. 303 is very specific about needing to buff off the product. They don't suggest it, they say DO it.
Seems like I have seen Steve make mention of buffing off one of his protectant products, as well.
