Can anyone give me the pros and cons of using a boar's hair brush? I'm considering using it and am concerned as to whether or not it will scratch my finish. I also need to know if I should be concerned with the amout of pressure I apply to the brush.
If you guys are up to it I also need the pros and cons of using a foam gun.
Thanks guys.

Everything scratches your finish. I have no problem using a soft brush on my car, but I don't use it on black or dark customer cars ever. If you layer on the wax that helps too.
I've only used poor foam guns with average results.

I have not used a the brush, but someone who has one said that you have to be careful in using it. Use only the tips of the brush to wash the car - pressure would not be ideal imo. This may be great for a garage queen, but an everyday driver/ winter grime, I would use sheepskin.

I've used a horsehair brush for years and never had any scratches that I can remember or attribute to the brush. It's quite small and finally wearing out so I switched to a big boarshair brush recently.
When it's wet, it feels extremely soft so I'm not worried about adding scratches. The bristles don't hold dirt like a wash mitt does and rinses easier than mitts.
Common sense applies with the brush - use the tips only, don't grind the brush into the surface, and rinse and flick frequently. Even flush the foam gun stream through the bristles as you're using it.
I got my brush from TOL and the quality has been superb.
Would I buy one again? Yup.
