Brush marks or clearcoat problem??

Hello all,

I have a 1992 Mercedes 300e. The previous owner did go through the car wash a couple times a month. The paint has what looks like brush marks in it. I took it to a detail shop and they did a buff 3 different grits they said. When I picked it up the marks were 95% gone, it looked Great. Well the next day the marks were back, just the same as if nothing were done. Also on the trunk it looks like bird bomb damage.

At the time of me picking it up, they Said the "clear was stretching", not brush marks. Anyways, I know I cannot get rid of them without a repaint. What I want to do is use a product to fill or hide them somewhat. They were hidden when I picked it up the first time. I just want to do it again, but have the effect last longer.

Is there a product that can help?

Thanks,

Ron

Unfortunately the only way to repair your paint is to repaint. That is what is commonly known as clear coat failure.:(

Thanks for the reply SpoiledMan. After I picked it up you could hardly see them, like they were filled. The paint on the whole car appeared a little darker too. I was hoping to find a product to hide them somewhat. I will keep searching.

Thanks,

Ron

Meguiar's #7 will do a fair bit of hiding. Apply often as nothing hangs around long on failing paint. Don't ask me how I know!
