BRRRRR -- Cold In The NYC Area For Detailing !!

HondaMan

2004 Civic EX magnesium
Well, I did my winterizing for my Honda Civic today and yesterday....cold.....maybe 50 degrees tops in the Sun and in the shade or late afternoon, alot colder (30's ?).

Anyway, got a nice wash...clayed the SOB.....AIO....2 coats of UPP. EX-P on the wheels/rims.

The UPP in cold weather really gets slick. It's a nice feeling -- don't know if it's the added moisture or what. I let it adhere alot longer before wiping it off (overnight last night; 2 hours today).

Car should be OK now through March. Last year I got to give it a booster LSP in January when we warmed to the mid-50's but who knows if I'll get that chance again.

Anybody else in the Northeast still doing their detailing outside this time of year ?

50 degrees F, im kinda jelous. the past couple days have been like minus 10C or 14ish F.
Good to seee you got the final winter prep done before the real cold, we of cours would like some pictures though.

50 isn't cold.
I prefer 50 over 90
I'm retired now but I was a long distance trucker and when i had to go to Florida or any of the southern coastal states in the summer I thought I was going to die. My god the heat and humidity is unbearable.
As to detailing in the winter I'm one of the fortunate ones I have a 36x30 heated garage and it is air conditioned also. This past summer it was hot but the humidity don't get nearly as high as somewhere like Mississippi.

I agree with Harry, I was outside today raking leaves with just a T-shirt and a sweat shirt, my neighbor was actually wearing shorts

Sparkie the whole Family is tired of the cold period..Chicago has had a lot of mild winters compared to when i was a kid and below zero was the norm..

I think it is as difficult for people in the Northern states to live down here as it would be for us warm blooded Floridians to live up north. My daughter makes generation number 5 of my family living here in Florida and we are all very acclimated to the heat, but I cannot tolerate cold at all. I freeze in anything lower than 72. I think we always prefer what we are used to. :)

That garage set up you have is sweet! I'm so envious!

I've always looked at it like this. When you're cold you can put a coat on. When you're hot you can only get so naked or was it when you're naked you can only get so hot? I'm all messed up. :yay

yes but wouldn't you prefer to be naked and sweating than bundled up and shivering? lol I rest my case! Heat is better! ;) hehehehe

Hey, I detailed a Chevy Suburbon this Saturday - started out - it was 38degrees, had my RUN-DMC black Adidas jacket on ( and I'm a southern redneck boy) but damn that jacket is warm! Took 6 hours and I was down to a sweatshirt after the wash job. And Jen, detailing naked? I'm afraid I'd look like the Michlein Man!

I'm in suburban NYC too. I'll wash cars outside down to about 42 degrees F. Below that, I move inside the garage and use rinseless bucket washes.

P.S. I'm eventually planning to retire in Florida. I don't really like hot weather, but I don't want to be shoveling snow when I'm 80 years old either.

I don't like it around here in January maybe I could go stay with JEN for a month and we could do some of that naked detailing in the warm Florida sun.

lol I never said detailing naked, I just said naked and sweating. lol

Even though August and September are brutal here and we get hurricanes and it's too crowded and people are crabby, I tell you what being able to go down the street to the beach and being able to swim in an unheated pool in January and February is so nice. I love it in winter when the breeze is cool and the sun is warm on your skin, it just feels GLORIOUS!
