Bright Blue Maserati Spyder

I had posted this car up a couple months back when I started picking away detailing it. To see the before pictures go here: http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=65149 .



The car was over at the body shop forever because they ended up taking off the entire front bumper to repair it correctly. Of course when it came back there was overspray all over it and there were some new scratches from someone that wiped off the car when it was dusty :mad: .



I started by claying the complete exterior with Opti Clay which slightly marred the paint because the excessive amount of overspray the clay bar picked up.



After claying, I spot-buffed a few areas that had scratches with Intensive Polish. Next, I polished the complete exterior with Intensive Polish by rotary with a foam finishing pad.



I decided to go with Werkstatt's Prime by hand followed by 2 coats of Acrylic Jett by hand. Finally, I wiped it down with Acrylic Glos to remove any haze left from the AJ.



I have to say that I am extremely happy with the results Werkstatt's products have given me. The car is now 100% swirl free!

I don't know if it's the lighting or the contours of the car, but the paint on that Maserati doesn't impress me very much. Are they all that way? Maybe it's the color. :nixweiss

What is your normal procedure for cleaning wheels?

I use a non caustic wheel cleaner that I get from a local distributor which works pretty well. I douse each wheel down (inside the wheel & the face), let it sit for about 45 seconds, use my official wheel brush (which is like a bottle brush) for the inside of the wheel, and use another brush for the outside of the wheel, then rinse.



On this particular car I removed all the wheels because the brake dust was really caked on and I couldn't get in between the spokes with my brush.

I think maybe it's just the color for me or the sunlight in the pics. I guess I expected the paint to be deeper. Not criticizing your work at all, just expected more when clicking for Maserati pics I guess. :nixweiss

If you don't mind me asking, what wheel cleaner do you use?
 
Nice work Rick. Luca, 1 Clean WS6, has a client with one and it won an award at the United Way auto show last year. They are beautiful cars. :)
 
Looking very wet, great job on a beautiful vehicle! Imalso interested in the wheel cleaner you use,looks great :2thumbs:
