"Brands" are Out Of Control !!!

So I was idly surfing a popular auction site for QD's and Spray Waxes to add to my collection, and began to think, it's insane out there. Here's a list of brands I didn't recognize that make and/or sell spray waxes and QD's. See any good sleepers in here? I see a lot of Wurth and Chemical Guys, I betcha.

  18. Widow Wax (yes Widow not Window)

  21. Spray Nine
  22. Zephr (spray wax called "Spo-Dee-O-Dee")

  26. P&S (seems like a larger company making car care)
  27. Nick's Preferred

  29. Luster Lace or Luster Care (they don't know)

Add to this list all the OEM's making selling products (Lexus, BMW, Porsche) and also more car parts & oil companies are vying for our attention, like Motul, Driven, Summit Racing, Lucas, etc. Even a few old cleaning product companies, like Purple Power, making Spray Wax for cars!

I saw Barret Jackson QD at Pep Boys!

Seeing as most people I know would consider our big hitters like Optimum or Finish Kare to be "fringe" brands, I guess any one of those brands up there could be a <popular auction site> best-seller.
 
I know spray nine makes a cleaner/degreaser for commercial/household use. Had no idea they had stuff in car segment. There regular stuff is sold at retail stores like home depot.
 
The choices today are stagering! You can spend hours looking at them! And if you like to try NEW PRODUCTS, add that in the mix! Guess mike said it best over at AG. "Find something you like, and use it often." Lately i have been all over the chart using different products. But for whatever reason, i find myself going back to PRIMA. Just love their HYDRO MAX and WAX AS U DRY. I have to laugh. I am ready to order a gallon of soap. Cant make my mind up! LOL.

Currently the xterra has 2 coats of hydro max on and is being washed with DP POWER WASH & WAX soap. This soap caught me. Cant put it down. Very impressive! And leaves your LSP intact and rinses clean without residue. In fact put your drying aids/qd/waxes back in the garage. With this soap they are not needed!
 
I saw someone peddling a spray wax at a "car show" this weekend. More power to them. That's how Steve got his start at PB, right? He took his products around to car shows until it took off.

I have nothing against trying some of these brands, but many of them, it's fairly transparent that they bought 5-gallons from a manufacturer and laser printed some labels.
 
I'll stick with companies I know.

I'm a retailer/wholesaler of Chemical guys and they make a lot of 3rd party products for small startup detailing product companies. They offered me the same, but their name carries much more weight in terms of brand recognition and word of mouth.

Here is something that tells me how inundated the market is for detailing products: last year I contacted the folks who run the Carlisle, PA car shows and they told me that due to the volume of detailing products (mostly 3rd party stuff), they will not allow any new vendors selling those types of products. Even though I am the only local authorized full-line retailer of Griot's Garage and Chemical Guys, they told me flat out "NO". I know that Adam's does these shows, as does Mequiar's, but 95% of it is no name 3rd party snake oil for the most part. Saves me 6 hours driving at least...
