Well I just finnished my first wash with the new gun! Wow! I used Gold class diluted 1:1 on the third from the smallest orifice. Quickest wash of my van I have ever done. I wish I would have bought one of these things years ago. Thanks for all your help.

alright, just got off the phone with CSP. The woman said that she would have to check on prices somewhere because she didn't have the information on hand. I gave her my name/number to call me back. She said if she didn't call back today, she would get to me sometime monday (said that the office was crazy today). I asked her about a group buy and she said that it could be arranged (woot!). I told her that I was part of a large group of automotive detailers that are interested in this product but don't have anywhere to purchase them so if her company could supply them, they would have a number of buyers. Hopefully that little bit will help pursuade them to get going on it. Ill letcha know what happens when/if she calls me back.

Yeah, I'd say it can be notched down to 1 oz. It's working very well for me. I also think those who may not have been happy with the performance of certain car washes may find they do much better via foam gun.

I will try some other washes, I did a second car tonight with the gun and am not that happy with the GC. Here are some pics of it;

Do you new foamgun users like the pistol grip sprayer part of it? I just *hated* mine, replaced it with a plastic shutoff that I can easily work with my thumb. I like having my hand parallel to the nozzle of the gun rather than perpendicular to it. Just a personal preference but it's one that makes an incredible difference to me. Seems to make it easier to pick up when it's sitting in/across the rinse bucket too.

I get the feeling I use less shampoo than most foamgun users. I do it by eye and I'm certainly not precise about it. I use Griot's Car Wash and I have a pump dispenser on the gallon jug. I take a second (empty) gallon jug and put in some water, maybe a pint's worth. Then I pump about four-six pumps of shampoo in, shake it lightly, and fill it the rest of the way with water.

Bingo, me too. In fact I just made a gallon today. I bought a sturdy Rubbermaid gallon container (that you would make iced tea or lemonade in) and fill it up to the 128oz line with water (1 gallon). I then do 5 pumps of Gold Class shampoo with the gallon pump dispenser I have attached to the Gold Class jug. Each pump is one ounce. So I am doing 5 ounces for one gallon of water. I let sit for a few days and it dissolves into the water making a super concentarted, slick liquid that I then transfer into the foam gun container as needed.

I use about one foam gun container of concentrate per wash.

Since the Gold Class directions for normal washing is 1 ounce per gallon of water, the 5 ounces of Gold Class per 1 gallon of water for the foam gun makes for a nice, slippery, lubricating coating for the car.

You know, I like the pistol version better! I have the shutoff valve that I got at Home Depot - a nice metal one. However, it keeps coming slightly unscrewed from the hose and I end up with water spray in my face! :rofl

Plus, I find it more cumbersome to operate with my thumb (my other hand is in the mitt) where as with the pistol, I just release off the pistol lever and gently place the hose and gun on the ground on its side if I want to get it out of my hand.

I guess my manual dexterity abilities are lacking in foam gun operations.

The plastic greenish colored Gilmour shut offs do the trick for me. The knob is big enough to turn during most washing conditions.

So you are using about 1.25 ounces of GC per wash...just a tad more than if you were mixing up a gallon of solution at the recommended ratio for a bucket wash...for those of us that are keeping track :o

I am not that excited about the pistol grip. It makes it hard to set anywhere, even in the rinse bucket. Removing the foam gun and leaving the pistol grip attached sucks as a spray nozzel. I need to goto the two hose setup.

What dilution setting are you using on the foam gun?

So for the Accumulator style wash, is a quart foam gun fine or do I need the Half Gallon? I’ll be mostly washing my M3, thanks!

I use the weakest setting for most stuff and crank it up if needed (rocker panels, for instance).

Spilchy- Ah, you have your hand *in* the mitt. I dunk the mitt in the shampoo bucket, fill it with wash solution, hold it shut at the cuff, and hold it that way while foaming with the other hand.

Like Bill D, I like the Gilmour shutoffs, though I'm using my lever-action ones more and more.

Sounds like you need more quick-disconnects. They not only make for easy on/off, they allow for 180 degree swiveling so nothing comes unscrewed ;) I have them both before and after my shutoffs. I *really* need them with that lever action shutoff, otherwise the lever's always in the wrong place and I spray suds all over the shop when I set it down across the top of the rinse bucket. But yeah, it's better to have a separate rinse hose.

lucaszcpm3- Small world: I'll be using it on *my* M3 if my mechanic ever finishes working on it  I like the smaller bottle. Less chance I'll bump the panels with it, especially when doing the horizontal surfaces like the roof. It gets a little tricky holding everything up there and getting the foam to spray just where you want/need it- you're holding the mitt/BHB in one hand while trying to spray the suds right at the point where the wash media contacts the paint. It's not *that* hard, but it's sure not that *easy* either.

Thanks, Accumulator. Your postes have helped me more then anyone with my detailing, I really appreciate it.

BTW whats wrong with the M? Rod bearings, Vanos, SMG oil pump, faulty ignition coils? :grinno:
