BOTM Acura RSX, ONR / Opti-Seal Review, Pictures!!!

Well first of all, I went out and bought two more proportioning spray bottles from Walmart and mixed up a QD amount for one of the bottles, and then I mixed in 2 capfuls (1 ounce) into about 2 gallons of water...Now one of the first things I noticed is that there is

1. No foam

2. Not nearly as much lubricity as lets say GC

3. Didn't SEEM to clean as much as a regular wash, but the car did look good, its just the bugs/harder spots were much harder to get off then with a conventional wash

4. Was relatively scary the first time!!!

Now I'm not sure if 1 ounce to 2 gallons was the correct ratio (I believe it is) but it just didn't seem right??? I've never done an ONR wash before and I guess I was just expecting my mitt to feel softer and glide across the paint a little easier. Although I was using the Schmitt, which may explain why this felt different, or it may not, but either way, I really like the process and it definately does save time for some odd reason!!!

Any info/help would be appreciated, is this normal, should I get a different mitt such as the sheepskin mitts from walmart? I'm just scared of inflicting marring!

Opti Seal was a little strange at first, but I could definately get used to this product! I probably used about 6-8 sprays on the whole car, a little does go a long way, and I used one of the foam applicators provided. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to wet the applicator before using, so I didn't, and it was extremely hard to apply the Opti-Seal evenly. Does anyone with experience with this product know if its ok to spritz the applicator with a little QD before use? It would have made the first 3-4 panels a TON easier...

Looks wise I can't complain! For the product and its ease of application, it looks pretty good. I wasn't blown away by the looks that it achieved, but it definately added a load of gloss and slickness to the paint. As time went on the slickness just improved

Anyways, onto some pictures

My setup...2 gallons water /1 ounce of ONR/Schmitt , 2 WW from Walmart / Clean bucket of water (Approx. 3 gallons)

And finally, what have you fellow Autopians gotten me into!

It seems that lately I'm always ordering something new, and I'm

officially done ordering new products!!! It's starting to get bad, I just received this today,

And my stock now looks like this, (not including my millions of

microfibers, about 20 pads for the PC, Cans of tire foam/simple green, and Carpet cleaner)

Now that may not look like a lot, but with me being 18 years old, and only being a weekend warrior, its quite a stock!!! I better have a LOT of cars to do before I go off to college in August ;)

You'll want tp use one ounce of ONR for every gallon of water.

With the Opti-Seal you do NOT want to use a QD to prime the pad.....no offense to you, but who came up with that idea of priming pads?

Give your sponge one spritz of OptiSeal before using, squeez the pad and then give it one more spray and then begin your application. One spray should do at least panel or more.

I work my OptiSeal into the paint until almost all gone then move on but each person develops their own system as long as you keep close to the basics.

I'm really not sure who uses QD to prime their pads lol, I've heard that before, but I tend to stick to spritzing my pad with some water before using a wax like EX or natty's...

Next time I'll give the pad a courtesy spritz of Optiseal before the 1st spritz that goes on the car! After the second or 3rd spritz on the pad, it was easy sailing :D

If the paint is freshly polished or has no wax on it the pad will drag a little. I saw in your tub a bottle of Poli-Seal. I have found that if you prep the paint with this the applicator pad with the Opti-Seal will glide across the paint.
